Barracuda Networks is seeking a seasoned and motivated payroll professional in our Campbell, CA headquarters to join our team in supporting our growing employee base. The right candidate will have full-cycle Canada + US payroll experience including Canadian provinces, taxes, labor laws, audits, reporting, research, reconciliations. Strong knowledge of time systems, Excel expertise, and a team mentality are greatly desired.

What you'll be working on:

  • Carry out reporting, technical and administrative functions in payroll aspects and staff benefits
  • Precisely process all payroll types, such as bonuses, commissions, stock, new hires, absences, terminations and other specialized staff transactions on a routine basis
  • Ensure prompt funding of all payrolls, taxes, garnishments
  • Evaluate payroll data, prepare journal entries, and reconcile payroll balance sheet with analysis
  • Perform administration of benefits associated with payroll such as life and health insurance premium, and pension schemes; and sustain other voluntary salary sacrifice arrangements and deductions
  • Evaluate payrolls for conformity with company’s wages and policies, payroll principles, withholding regulations such as internal revenue service policies for withholding and reporting
  • Review modifications in regulations and laws relevant to payroll which calls for organization policy modifications, and inform management
  • Maintain effective contact with affiliated departments, as well as TPA’s, and Federal/State agencies
  • Audit payroll runs, reporting and filings before release
  • Ensure payroll taxes are correct and on time, inform staff on tax withholdings and other required deductions as well as estimated payroll tax deposits
  • Adhere to audit requirements for controls and financial accuracy. Prepare audit support and work directly with company’s internal and external auditors
  • Assist in benefit audits, tax provisions and filings by preparing clean and timely support
  • Give suggestions on modifications in payroll policies and procedures to improve effectiveness
  • Assist company staff with payroll-related inquiries

 
What you bring to the role:

  • 8+ years of payroll experience in companies with employees in US and Canada
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • General accounting experience preferred
  • Experience in a lead role or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with federal, state, local statutory and worker's compensation payroll audits
  • Advanced Excel skills, as well as strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, 3rdparty Payroll/HCM solutions.
  • Willingness to learn, perform and succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional communication with all levels
  • Time management skills to ensure meeting deadlines, prioritizing duties
  • Function alone and as part of close-knit team
  • Present an optimistic, professional and credible attitude under pressure
