 About the Opportunity 

As a member of Product Management team, you will work on Helix Virtualization Platform, a bare metal hypervisor-based safety critical platform. You will own the roadmap, define requirements, prioritize the backlog, etc. so as to grow the business to address the needs of customers, partners, and government agencies. In this role, you will lead Wind River’s mission in providing the most advanced safety critical software platforms on the market.

You will work in close partnership with experienced Engineering, Sales, and Marketing teams.

This is a B2B Product Management role.

Interface & Collaboration

As a Product Manager, you are a business/data focused individual with a strong technical background. You will report to the Product Management Lead for the portfolio. You will collaborate with Sales, Customers, Partners, Engineering, Industry Groups, Finance, Marketing.

 Responsibilities 

  • Own the roadmap and backlog.
  • Write requirements (the WHAT, WHY, and for WHOM).
  • Do market research and look at the competition as necessary.
  • Engage with key stakeholders.
  • Engage with various trade organizations (FACE, ARINC, MOSA).
  • Train Sales when new releases become available.
  • Represent Wind River externally.
  • Manage your offering and its business model.
  • Drive positive ROI on investments and profitability of product line.
  • Drive adoption of new offerings from early adopters to broad market adoption through a phased approach.

About You 

  • You are passionate about software and understand the complexity of hypervisors and/or operating systems and their role in mission critical software.
  • You understand the constraints that Functional Safety imposes on development and are eager to look for ways to improve internal and customers’ outcomes.
  • You have experience incubating innovation, building MVP and V1 products and iteratively maturing them towards broad market adoption.
  • Functional Safety is not something you need to google and have heard of DO-178C, IEC61508 or ISO26262.
  • You have a good understanding of the various types of operating systems, from cars to planes to robots to industrial controllers to personal computers.
  • You have been a Product Manager for 8+ years managing complex software.
    Ideally, you worked with or on safety certified software, preferably in the Aerospace and Defense market, but Automotive and Industrial are great too.
  • While a businessperson, you are happy to roll your sleeves and work with engineering on technical nuances.
  • You are driven and self-motivated.
  • You are familiar with programming languages such as C/C++ or Rust.
  • You have knowledge/understanding of the embedded software and hardware markets.

Qualifications 

  • A BA/BS (computer science, engineering, marketing or equivalent).
  • You have worked at least 5+ years on software in the Automotive, Industrial, or Aerospace and Defense markets.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • You must be a US citizen on US soil to work with defense contractors.

Compensation                

The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is currently $141,000 to $185,000 plus a bonus for Colorado, New York, and New Jersey residents, and $166,000 to $220,000 plus a bonus for SF Bay Area, Greater Seattle, NYC, and Washington, DC, residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, and 12 paid holidays.
