ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Wind River is seeking a Software Functional Safety Specialist to join the Certification Office within the Edge Systems product engineering team. This position requires proven skills software development compliant to ISO-26262, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.

ABOUT YOU

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain safety and quality related plans & processes (compliant to ISO-26262, ASPICE3.1/4.0, IATF16949) to support the execution of the software development lifecycle activities for Wind River’s safety critical products.
  • Train and mentor software engineering teams to effectively execute planned safety lifecycle activities.
  • Actively participate with engineering teams to improve Wind River’s development lifecycle process and tools.
  • Perform change impact analysis and create Safety Plans for ASIL B/D projects.
  • Coordinate safety and quality related software development lifecycle activities with Product Management, Field Engineering, Product Development, SQA and Security teams.
  • Complete production software release for safety related software projects.
  • Perform software safety analysis to a.) Confirm safety-related part of the SW and b.) Support specification & verification of safety measures.
  • Perform reviews to find non-compliance and gaps and maintain review checklist.

Qualifications and Skills

  • BSc degree in an analytical or technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in the development of safety critical software including safety engineering for planning, coordinating, executing safety lifecycle.
  • Specialist knowledge of concepts and importance of baselines, traceability, reproducibility.
  • Specialist knowledge of safety analysis methods (e.g. FTA, FMEA, STPA) in a SW context.
  • Ability to plan and estimate activities and deliverables of the safety lifecycle.
  • Ability to lead other disciplines to complete safety lifecycle activities effectively.
  • Strong communications skills written and verbal.
  • Within a safety-critical environment you’ve:
    • Collaborated with SW tools/process teams and wider engineering organization stakeholders.
    • Configured and used CI/CD pipelines, tools, and infrastructure.
    • Developed procedures for software tools, infrastructure configuration and use.
  • You have experience:
    • Conducting safety analysis using tools such as Excel, Medini Analyze, Fault Tree+, PLATO.
    • Developing, analyzing and managing requirements in RQM or ALMs such as Polarion, CodeBeamer, Jama, Doors.
    • Developing embedded software products in an AGILE environment using tools such as Jira / Confluence, git.
    • With safety qualification of software tools and code libraries.
    • Using CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLabCI, Azure Pipelines, CircleCI, TeamCity…).
    • Using embedded RTOS such as VxWorks or similar.

Compensation                

The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is currently $130,000 to $170,000 plus a bonus for Colorado, New York, and New Jersey residents, and $146,000 to $195,000 plus a bonus for SF Bay Area, Greater Seattle, NYC, and Washington, DC, residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, and 12 paid holidays.
