The Buyer role plays a critical part in securing the equipment, materials and services necessary to support our innovative copper-recovery operations.

General Accountability:

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, procuring and managing the supply of equipment, materials and services required for plant operations, drilling, construction, maintenance, and ongoing site activities. The role requires strong vendor management, cost control, timely delivery, compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and close coordination with operations, engineering, finance, and other internal stakeholders. This is an onsite office job placement.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers for mining and drilling equipment, construction materials, parts, and consumables.
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to secure competitive pricing and reliable delivery schedules even in uncertain supply chain environments.
  • Monitor and manage lead times to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, maintenance and finance to forecast upcoming needs, understand project timelines, and align purchasing plans accordingly.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness, and drive continuous improvement in vendor performance.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and generate reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, supplier performance and order expediting.
  • Stay informed about trade strikes, shipping delays, and other external factors that could affect deliveries.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements as applicable to site operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant purchasing experience.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, capable of working with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with preparation of scopes of supply, issuing Request for Proposals (RFPs), comparing quotations, awarding purchase orders and contracts, negotiating terms and conditions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in the mining, well-drilling or heavy construction industry, including mining site equipment (wellfield, pumps, piping, drilling rigs, heavy equipment, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) or similar contract law applicable to procurement.
  • Experience in strategic sourcing, cost-reduction initiatives and vendor-development programs.

Skills and Competencies:

 

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite applications. 4Site Enterprise Management System experience a plus.
  • Highly accurate, strong attention to detail

  • Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities as necessary.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

 

  • Primarily office-based procurement work, but may require site visits (warehouse, yard, field) to coordinate deliveries, review equipment and engage with vendors on-site.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. when needed (e.g., inspect parts, coordinate shipments).
  • Must comply with site health, safety and environmental policies, wear required PPE, and operate within a mining / industrial environment.
  • Flexible to respond to supply delays, urgent orders or evolving operational needs.
