Role Overview

Supervise, coordinate and control the safe and efficient operation of the Tailings Storage Facility.

Core Responsibilities

  • Supervising the operating crews and contractors in the tailings storage facility, environmental ponds, and water systems.
  • Manage all aspects of sand stacking and optimizing cyclone performance
  • Initiating and expediting work orders for on-shift maintenance and repair.
  • Recommending changes and modifications to company policies, personnel and equipment.
  • Motivating crews in proper operating practices, good housekeeping, fostering a solid team atmosphere while maintaining a safe, disciplined work environment.
  • Correcting operating problems and notifying senior management of any prolonged production variance.
  • Requesting services from other departments and contractors as required.
  • Approving timecards, carrying-out planned job evaluations and area audit inspections, conducting safety meetings and employee performance appraisals.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Skills & Competencies

  • 3 years previous supervisory experience.
  • Tailings storage experience, and experience managing sand stacking, dam raises and other construction projects.
  • Knowledge or experience with project management through operations and/or maintenance would be an asset.
  • Milling equipment and knowledge and capabilities.
  • Familiarity with a Distributed Control System (DCS) and Expert System would be a definite asset.
  • Computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
