Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative engineer interested in joining the Reliability Engineering team at Gibraltar Mine in a temporary position. This position would provide a great opportunity for a registered professional engineer or experienced engineer-in-training to gain valuable field experience. The successful candidate will work with a variety of departments on site to provide engineering support in the fixed and mobile equipment reliability areas.

The length of the term would be 12 months with a planned start date in May or June of 2026

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with Ministry of Mines and WorkSafeBC Safety Standards
  • Maintain, update, and analyze equipment performance data
  • Support troubleshooting of machinery issues and root cause analysis
  • Support and lead maintenance initiatives such as defect elimination, preventive-maintenance-optimization and equipment benchmarking
  • Develop budgets, schedules, and plans for key projects
  • Create and maintain engineering documents, including drawings in Solidworks
  • Provide field engineering support for maintenance projects
  • Liaise with engineering firms, suppliers, and contractors as necessary
  • Offer general engineering technical support to operations and maintenance departments for site equipment (mobile and milling).
  • Support Technical Services and other engineering projects as needed

Education & Experience

  • A degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or other related Engineering field and enrolled (or eligible to enroll) as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.

Skills & Competencies

  • Registered Professional Engineer or Engineer-In-Training with EGBC
  • 3 - 5 years experience with mechanical reliability and maintenance in an industrial setting
  • Exposure to base metals mineral processing and associated milling/mining equipment
  • Exposure to reliability-centered maintenance
  • Knowledge/experience with computer-assisted drawing programs (SolidWorks)
  • Experience in oil, vibration and/or failure analysis considered an asset
  • Formal reliability training considered an asset
  • Basic understanding of structural engineering considered an asset
  • Exposure to project management considered an asset
  • Good working knowledge of all MS office applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess and maintain a valid Canadian driver’s license.
