Duties and Responsibilities

Reading Blueprints

  • Accurately read and interpret blueprints and engineering plans along with other data, such as work plans, to develop and design welding projects


  • Fabrication involves laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding metals to create the desired shape or object per R.T. Moore quality standards.
  • Accurately check measurements and dimensions of each piece that is being worked on.
  • Make templates for common work tasks when conducting repetitive motions for the fabrication process to ensure a set standard of work quality

Inspect Work and Equipment

  • Constantly inspect and test welds and equipment. Check welds for durability as well as meeting specified standards and equipment must be examined to determine if repairs or new equipment is needed.
  • Safely operate manual machine tools including Drill press, Lathe, Mill, HBV, VBM, and Surface Grinder
  • Select proper cutting tools and parameter for various material alloys.
  • Evaluate finished products and perform quality checks on products.

Job Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or a GED equivalent
  • At least two years of experience in fabrication
  • Welding certificate completion preferred
  • Understanding of construction tasks and industrial processes
  • Ability to comprehend blueprints and work specifications
  • Proficient in operating heavy machinery
  • Independent problem solver
  • Must be honest, trustworthy and demonstrate sound work ethics
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with team members to achieve shared departmental goals.
  • Mechanical and mathematical aptitude
  • Basic hand tool/machine experience.
  • Detail Oriented
  • Physical ability to lift at least 75 pounds or more
