About the Role

Clarvida is seeking a strategic Director of People & Culture to lead our HR Business Partner function and strengthen employee relations, culture, and retention across a growing multi-state organization. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders while overseeing HRBPs and Employee Relations support, ensuring our people practices are consistent, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.

This role goes beyond traditional HRBP leadership, offering the opportunity to help build and scale the operating systems that support HR across the organization, including intake models, governance frameworks, service delivery standards, and documentation processes. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in employee relations and employment law, experience supporting multi-state teams, and the ability to lead through ambiguity while building programs that strengthen engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.

 

Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic advisor to the VP of People & Culture and senior leadership, aligning people strategy with organizational priorities and growth objectives.
Lead and mentor a team of HR Business Partners and Employee Relations professionals, establishing clear standards for partnership, responsiveness, and impact.
Partner with executive and operational leaders to design and evolve organizational structures, workforce strategies, and leadership pipelines aligned to business needs.
Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, workplace investigations, and employment law compliance across a multi-state workforce.
Design and implement scalable HR operating frameworks, including intake models, service delivery standards, documentation protocols, and governance structures.
Coach senior leaders on leadership effectiveness, team dynamics, performance management, and navigating complex people challenges.
Translate enterprise strategy into workforce planning, succession strategies, and organizational change initiatives that support long-term growth.

Strengthen the employee experience and retention strategy by partnering with leaders on engagement initiatives and culture-building programs.
Monitor and analyze key people metrics such as turnover, engagement, and employee relations trends to inform strategic decision-making.
Ensure People & Culture policies, programs, and practices remain compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws, including California regulations.
Develop and mentor People & Culture team members to build leadership bench strength, operational consistency, and scalable HR support across the organization.

 

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (bachelor’s preferred)
8–12+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant experience as a Senior HR Business Partner or HR leader

Proven experience leading or mentoring HRBPs or HR teams

Deep expertise in employee relations, workplace investigations, and employment law

Experience supporting multi-state organizations, including familiarity with California employment law

Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, aligning people strategies with business goals

Experience building or improving HR operating systems, including processes such as case intake models, service delivery frameworks, and documentation standards

Strong experience developing HR programs, governance structures, and service-level expectations (SLAs)

Ability to lead through ambiguity and scale people programs in evolving organizations

Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence leaders across functions

 

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $135,000 - $155,000 (compensation is based on factors including experience, education, and location.
