Emergency Medicine Advance Practice Provider (PA/APRN) PRN- Danbury Hospital
Danbury and New Milford Hospitals, affiliated with Northwell Health are seeking a per diem Emergency Medicine Advance Practice Provider (PA/APRN) at Danbury and New Milford Hospitals in Danbury and New Milford, CT (about 70 and 82 miles northeast of New York City). Danbury Hospital's Emergency Department is an accredited Level II Trauma Center, a Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center, offering 24-hour interventional cardiology. We treat about 70,000 patients annually, with approximately 1200 trauma cases. Our team also provides coverage at nearby New Milford Hospital, where we treat 21,000 patients annually in our state-of-the-art ER department. Our team of 38 full time physicians and 12 full time APPs provide 24/7 coverage at both locations. This is an employed position with a collegial and stable team.
Danbury Hospital, established in 1885, is a not-for-profit community hospital with 371 beds, providing Greater Danbury area resident's convenient access to exceptional care. In July 2014, the hospital debuted our new 40,000-square-foot Emergency Department, doubling the size of the ED with a streamlined triage area, state of the art technology, and all private patient rooms. We have 71 treatment/consultation areas including a 12-bed express care area, four alert/high acuity rooms, and a seven-bed crisis intervention area.
Danbury Hospital's Emergency Department is an accredited Level II Trauma Center, a Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center, offering 24-hour interventional cardiology, and has a heliport.
New Milford Hospital, established in 1921, a 20-inpatient bed community hospital, serving the residents of the greater Litchfield County area in Connecticut. Our state of the art, Emergency Department, is an 11,000-square-foot, sustainable and "green" space, equipped with all private patient rooms, specialty care areas and an expanded triage desk.
Job Summary:
Emergency Medicine APPs function under the administrative supervision of the Chair of Emergency Medicine. They are utilized in the Emergency Department, Express Care Unit, and at Triage, EM APPs are credentialed to perform clinical assessments and procedures under the supervision of an Attending Physician. They also perform various administrative functions, such as record reviews, laboratory Xrays and EKG result follow-ups, and other duties within the scope of Emergency Medicine. APPs provide care for patients within the main Emergency Department and Fast Track, while partnering with Attending Physicians in the overall management of patient flow and care within the ED.
**EM APPs will be cross credentialed at both Danbury & New Milford Hospitals with shift coverage at each facility on an as needed basis.
Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant program and/or FNP/ENP training program for APRNs (able to care for full scope of ED patients, pediatrics through geriatrics, without restrictions)
- APRNs will require a collaborative agreement for practice within the ED/EM section
- Current certification by NCCPA, and/or or AACN/ANCC (APRNs)
- CT PA license, and/or APRN license, CT Controlled Substances and Federal DEA Registration
- Current provider certification in ACLS and PALS or obtained within first 6-12 months of hire
- At least 50 hours pertinent CME annually
- Good interpersonal communication skills, work well in a team
- Emergency Medicine experience providing care in both main ED and Express Care/Fast Track and/or completion of an approved EM Residency/Fellowship Training program for APPs, and/or providing care as an EMT/ Paramedic and/or as an emergency department nurse.
- The schedule will be 11.5 shifts, that includes an hour of overlap/ sign out time. Shifts start at either 7a, 9a, 10a, 11:30a or 3p.

Salary range: $85/hr. commensurate or relative to experience.
