About the Team

Software-defined Network Engineering is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing end-to-end services, including software-defined network (SDN) solutions, with a specific focus on cloud, distributed systems, scale, and performance.

 

Your Role

  • Design and create documentation for multi-tenant network solutions within the Nutanix Cloud Platform.
  • Collaborate with technical staff and mentors to define project scopes and critical results.
  • Develop, implement, and test end-to-end networking services leveraging Software-Defined Networking (SDN).
  • Strengthen programming skills through hands-on technical projects using Python, Java, and/or Golang.
  • Engage in ongoing training and mentorship from industry experts to gain insights into software-defined solutions.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the team’s mission and deliver improved networking services for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Present project findings and personal development learnings at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Integrate into the team swiftly by communicating consistently and collaborating with peers and leadership.

 

What You Will Bring

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring current or future sponsorship for an employment visa, such as an F-1, H-1 B, or TN visa.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, and/or Golang.
  • Solid understanding of Linux operating systems and networking concepts.
  • Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) principles and multi-tenant architectures.
  • Exposure to cloud computing and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and technical staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn through hands-on experience.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Effective communication skills for articulating technical concepts and project progress.

The Process

  • Application Screening: We will review your application to understand your unique talents and skills in relation to our opportunities 
  • Online Technical Assessment: We will review your foundational skills through a coding skills assessment in the language of your choice
  • Technical interviews with our hiring teams to showcase your skills  
    • Students who advance to this round will receive preparation prior to the interviews 
    • Expect up to 3 interviews with Nutanix engineers and leaders. These are designed to assess your technical skills, role readiness, and your motivation for the opportunity at Nutanix. Each meeting will offer you an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the team you’ll potentially work with 
  • Final Decision: Offers extended to finalists within 2 days of the technical interview

 

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e., San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. Workplace type may vary based on location and team requirements. Please speak with your recruiter for details. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.

 

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 36 and USD $ 60 per hour.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
