Sr. Manager, Global Environmental Health & Safety

The Opportunity
This role combines strategic program ownership with hands-on execution. You will manage workplace safety, ergonomics, inspections, training, incident management, and continuous improvement efforts while owning site-specific emergency response plans and the Real Estate and Workplace team’s crisis management program. You will partner closely with Physical Security, Facilities, Legal, People Business Partners, and business leaders to ensure the organization is prepared to respond effectively to workplace incidents, natural and manmade crisis events.
This role will be responsible for coordinating, supporting, and advising the business on all aspects of EH&S. The role will implement, manage, and monitor standards, processes, risks, and communications to ensure that all responsibilities associated with EH&S within the company are met through direct and managed team activity.

As the Sr. Manager Global Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Crisis Management, you will own global environmental, health, and safety programs while leading crisis preparedness and emergency response planning through the Physical Security and Safety organization. Your Role
- Manage strategic vendor relationships that will support documentation, deployment and inspections to ensure compliance
- Identify the existing risk factors in the company by carrying out risk assessments.
- Draft and update documentation is vital for the fulfillment of the obligations relating to Environmental Health & Safety regulations.
- Analyze and implement changes after promulgating new laws and regulations, resolve requirements and non-conformities.
- Carry out physical investigations of accidents and incidents to identify corrective actions and monitor each closure.
- Ensure that the appropriate EH&S equipment and tools are available and are used.
- Identify and ensure delivery of the required and non-mandatory EH&S training programs.
- Coordinate and support in the closure of environmental health and safety root causes and risk assessments in alignment with local requirements.
- Responsible for maintenance and the effectiveness of EH&S policies, strategies, & goals in compliance with legislative and Nutanix requirements.
- Participate in the creation of company procedures, in the drafting of operating instructions, and ensures periodic review and updating.
- Update and revise the EH&S management system, the main procedures, and support the management of internal and external audit activities.
- Serve as the main point of contact for external inquiries by the local governmental authority.
- Participate in investigations into near misses, incidents and accidents and prepare/review improvement proposals.
- Involve, as internal promoter, all company employees in a growing and constant attention to issues and to protection and environmental protection by applying the Nutanix EH&S standards by attending regular meetings and safety committees.
- Direct the enlistment, training and development of a floor warden program for emergency evacuations and health related incidents.
- Develop and maintain global site-specific emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, shelter-in-place guidance, medical response considerations, and local emergency protocols.
- Own and manage the People team crisis management program, while supporting the development and maintenance of other crisis management plans across the organization as needed.
- Plan and lead emergency preparedness activities such as fire evacuations, executive safety drills, first aid training, and other readiness exercises across office locations.
- Develop and maintain EH&S and crisis management training, awareness materials, and communications to strengthen employee preparedness and program engagement.
- Identify the actions aimed at spreading and strengthening the EH&S culture within the organization and coordinate related initiatives that encourage proactive behavior at all levels.
- Manage EH&S operations budget, driving efficiencies and quality optimizations in line with the global Physical Security and Safety strategy
- Plan, develop and direct safety plans in support of company sponsored onsite and offsite events
What You Will Bring
- 10+ years of experience in environmental health and safety, emergency management, and crisis management.
- BS/BA degree preferred but not required (Industry experience to be considered in conjunction with level of formal education)
- Experience leading or managing EH&S programs globally.
- Familiarity with EH&S, emergency response, or crisis management tools and platforms, and ability to evaluate, implement, or manage new systems as program needs evolve.
- Strong working knowledge of workplace safety regulations, OSHA requirements, risk assessments, inspections, incident management, and corrective action processes.
- Experience developing or managing emergency response plans, crisis management programs, or workplace preparedness initiatives.
- Experience leading drills, exercises, or training programs related to emergency response, evacuations, first aid, or workplace safety.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 health and safety management systems and the knowledge gained of the ISO 14001 environmental standard is a plus.
- Professional certifications / registration will be considered an advantage.
- The ability to handle sophisticated issues and work in cross-functional teams independently with minimal supervision.
- High ethical standards and must have the proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 143,200 and USD $ 285,600 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
