About the office/school

The School of Nursing and Midwifery offers undergraduate programs that are highly regarded by the profession and a range of postgraduate coursework and nursing research programs. About the role

The successful candidate for this position is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of a department, school, faculty or other organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area. An academic at this level is also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in teaching and assessment in nursing courses offered by the University.
  • Deliver, develop, and coordinate courses on offer in the nursing discipline.
  • Support ongoing curriculum development and quality assurance processes for all aspects of internal and where appropriate external accreditation requirements for the School.
  • Lead quality activities including peer review and benchmarking activities and course review.
  • Supervision of Graduate Diploma students and act as subject coordinators.
  • Supervision of the program of study of honours students or of post graduate students engaged in course work.
  • Be active in the recruitment of students and the marketing of the programs offered by the School.
  • Perform interim and summative evaluations of courses and make recommendation about relevant changes required.
  • Work collaboratively with other academic staff members to ensure coherence and quality in all aspects of the academic program

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Hold a Bachelor of Nursing degree or equivalent and a Postgraduate qualification or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Current nurse registration with Ahpra
  • Have at least 3 years clinical nursing experience
  • A demonstrated ability to provide high quality teaching in a University setting and demonstrated experience with course coordination and academic governance.
  • A demonstrated ability to develop teaching resources and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including the effective use of online learning management.
  • Excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skill with the ability to work effectively within a team.
