The School of Education (Fremantle and Sydney) offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including initial teacher education for early childhood, primary and secondary teachers, and postgraduate programs in early childhood, leadership and management, curriculum, special learning needs and religious education.
About the role
The School of Education is seeking to appoint a Lecturer to work as part of the education team to develop and deliver academic subjects to students enrolled in its education programs.
The successful applicant will be expected to make a sustained contribution to the quality of the teaching, research and scholarly activities, and professional activities of the School of Education.
The Lecturer will foster relevant relationships within the education sector. The appointee will be expected to work co-operatively and collaboratively with the education team and is expected to maintain and develop their scholarly and professional activities relevant to the School of Education and the teaching profession. The position will report to the National Head of School Education.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshop, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions.
- Initiation and development of subject material.
- Act as a subject coordinator.
- Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars.
- Supervise the program of study of honours students or of postgraduate students engaged in course work.
- Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.
- Development of course material with appropriate advice from and support of more senior staff.
- Mark assessments and consult with students.
- Assist in administrative functions connected with the subjects in which the academic teaches.
- Attend departmental and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a number of committees.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Qualifications and/or experience recognised by the institution as appropriate for the teaching of health and physical education.
- A doctoral degree or equivalent experience and standing appropriate to the relevant discipline area.
- Significant experience in tertiary education or the equivalent industry experience in the teaching of health and physical education.
- Hold a current teacher registration/accreditation in Australia.
- Accomplished experience in secondary school settings and classroom teaching.
- Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
