Purpose of the role
Coordinate internal and external technical projects while serving as the critical link between MCC Sales and customers in technical/manufacturing effort. Interface with internal and external industry bodies in exploring label technologies, clarifying specifications, resolving challenges, delivering innovative label solutions while ensuring MCC continues to be the preferred choice for customer-specific projects. Manage the full lifecycle of assigned projects from customer need, trial plan, testing phase through to product launch. Serves as the technical resource lead for end-to-end product performance.
Key Performance Areas:
  • Conduct onsite technical service visit and provide support to achieve optimal product performance
  • Coordinates the application of qualifications material and communicates customer concerns to all parties
  • Provide technical support for the new customer or application equipment start-up and specifications development.
  • Initiate and coordinate projects with material suppliers to achieve development of innovative and sustainable label solutions.
  • To provide label/bottle drawings of new label design when required
  • Properly utilize the documentation and administrative tools in place to record customer history
  • Submit updates along with qualification status in customer locations monthly
  • Submit a written report following each customer visit
  • Establish trial and evaluation protocols in collaboration Quality and Operations and follow through the entire manufacturing process
  • Foster relationships with key labeller OEMs to keep abreast of new technologies
  • Identify market need for specific sustainable solutions and drive qualification process
  • Troubleshoot internal and external product and process related problems to identify root cause and implement preventative measures, communicate companywide on the status of internal and external developments
  • Troubleshoot non-performing material to identify root cause implementation of corrective actions
Minimum Educational/Experience Requirements
  • Must have working experience across a wide range of segments across the FMCG sector.  
  • Qualification in Packaging/Printing or Engineering related studies.  
  • 4 - 8 years’ experience in a Technical Support role within Labels/Flexible Printing industry.  
  • Technical Printing and material/substrate knowledge, and label application will be advantageous.  
  • Industry background and/or strong understanding of packaging substrates and printing methods  
  • In-depth technical knowledge of the machinery and technology in a printing environment.  
  • Assertive communicator with keen sense of follow-up/follow through.  
  • Proven ability to lead/coordinate multiple projects across teams and manage competing priorities.  
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience analysing technical manufacturing issues and implementing solutions.  
  • Knowledge of process control analysis and reporting  
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite to include intermediate ability with Excel and PowerPoint  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to relay technical information to non-technical industry colleagues both internal and external to the organization.  
  • Vigilant in the protection of MCC intellectual property.  
  • Ability to travel domestic and international when required.
