QA Supervisor I
Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a 1st Shift QA Supervisor I for JBS located at our Mason, Ohio Plant. The Quality Assurance Supervisor ensures all products and processes meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This role leads a team of quality professionals, drives continuous improvement, and collaborates across departments to maintain operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Food Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with USDA-FSIs regulations, HACCP plans, SSOP’s, GMP; s SQF requirements, and customer -specific food safety programs.
- Conduct and oversee testing of raw materials, in-process items, and finished products on the plant floor.
- Conduct Preoperational and verification and ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented.
- Verify production and sell-by dates
- Establish and monitor shelf-life requirements, product specifications, and critical control parameters (weights, temperatures, leak testing).
- Review and verify CCP, temperatures, weights, metal detection and other food safety monitoring records.
- Manage products holds, releases and disposition decisions associated with foods safety and quality concerns.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Direct and supervise quality assurance staff; plan and assign work to ensure timely completion.
- Lead, investigations involving foreign material findings, customer complaints process deviations and non-conforming products.
- Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions in partnership with production maintenance and sanitation.
- Maintain discipline, morale, and positive team relations; resolve personnel issues and recommend hiring, promotions, and terminations.
- Motivate team members to achieve performance goals and foster a culture of quality.
- Prepare for and participate in UDA, customer corporate third party and regulatory audits.
- Collaboration & Communication.
- Partner with production supervisors and other departments to coordinate activities and implement training programs.
- Serve as primary liaison with USDA inspectors regarding product quality, safety, and compliance.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Compile and maintain inspection records, quality control reports, and production documentation.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required paperwork.
- Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor adherence to safety protocols and sanitation practices.
- Investigate root causes of defects and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience
- Minimum of three to five years of experience in quality control in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in food manufacturing quality control preferred
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Good math skills
- Must be well-organized with good attention to detail
- Display strong work ethics and positive attitude
- Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work cooperation with others
- Must maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, instructions and to deal with problems involving a few different variables.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
- Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
- Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
- 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
- Base salary range of [$60,591-$73,618];
- Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan; the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
