About Technical Operations
BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.

- Communications with Regulatory Authorities on Safety and Environmental Issues
- Work closely with key stakeholders across the business to understand systems gaps and support needs – implementing improvement opportunities where identified;
- Provide support to operating and projects departments to ensure the highest standards of safety during project and operation phases.
- Develop EHS milestones for business development projects – ensuring that targets are reached on time and in full;
- Constantly challenge current systems and practices, proactively seeking opportunities for continual improvement and innovative EHS practices
- Liaise with Regulatory Authorities in relation to all safety compliance issues associated with development and operating assets;
- Communicate and train all personnel to ensure compliance with policies and procedures,
- Encourage company-wide health, safety and environmental initiatives, projects and programs as required.
- Provide technical knowledge and expertise to the management team and new projects teams with respect to EHS.
- Communicate with all levels throughout the BioMarin organisation
- The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an appropriate science or engineering discipline with relevant experience in an EHS discipline. Specific EHS qualifications would be an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
- The candidate will have a proven record of achievement in the areas of leadership, interpersonal and communication abilities, organizational skills and innovative thinking.
- Thorough understanding of Irish and European legislation on both health and safety
- Previous, demonstratable experience of implementing safety management systems to OHSAS or similar standards.
- Previous experience in dealing with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders at a senior level
- Previous experience in carrying out Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment
- Excellent communication, presentation, and training skills
- A flexible approach, good priority setting skills and ability to deal with multiple tasks
- Ability to project a thorough understanding of all health and safety matters
- Ability to develop and lead assigned employees whether or not these employees officially report to this position
- Proven leadership and people management skills
