About Technical Operations

BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.

Production Planner

Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite 

Shanbally, Ringaskiddy, Cork

Role:

The primary role of the Production Planner is to plan, schedule & co-ordinate manufacturing activities across Drug Substance, Drug Product and Finish Goods Packaging Operations. Ensure operational readiness is aligned to allow the execution of the mater production schedule to support production operations across the planning horizon including master data, BOMS and recipes, material, and capacity. The Production Planner will play a key role in the development and implementation of systems and processes to ensure optimal conversion of the Master Production Schedule into detailed production plans as well as product launch activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to schedule and maintain ongoing production planning activities in the execution of the Master Production Schedule and the translation of the MPS into detailed production schedules for intermediates to ensure that customer requirements are met
  • Responsible for executing firm plan and process order management as required by the detail schedule
  • Responsible for monitoring BOM’s and Recipes to meet detail schedule & escalating through the Tier process where updates are required
  • Responsible for maintaining schedule within SAP and update as required to support real time MRP planning
  • Responsible for maintaining and issuing site schedules (Detailed Production Lego/Detailed Production Schedule)
  • Responsible for generating data to support performance review (Plan V action) to facilitate the end campaign reviews.
  • Responsible for planning scenarios as required to maintain detailed schedule in the Frozen Horizon (0 – 4 months)
  • Responsible for inputs into the monthly site Supply Review meeting (SR)
  • Responsible for ensuring KPI’s for Site Planning function are maintained within business parameters.
  • Participate as required in delivery of Change Request, CAPA and Deviation within the Quality Management System (QMS) system
  • Participate in daily cross-functional meetings to ensure maintenance of Adherence to schedule *(ATS) and Adherence to Plan *(ATP) in line with Make / Assess / Release commitments
  • Participate in Product based S&OE with counterparts in GEO and Supply Planning.
  • Participate as required in Site ORP programs where Planning functional input is needed
  • Communicate schedule to production and support department and outline risks to meet the Detailed Schedule through the Frozen Horizon (0 – 4 months).
  • Support the identification and proactive resolution of constraints are schedule conflicts in the Frozen Horizon (0 – 4 months).
  • Support the Senior Production Planning/Master Scheduler in resolving capacity or schedule conflicts in the Flexi and Planning Horizon (5 months – 36 months)
  • Member of the functional process team level as required.
  • Facilitate daily Tier 1 planning meeting
  • Facilitate weekly internal S&OE meetings ensuring cross functional alignment of plans
  • Engage Right First Time (six-sigma) and lean manufacturing practices leading to Operational Excellence
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) projects:
    • Safety and Quality
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
    • Planner Standard Work
    • Metrics
    • Operational Readiness Programs (ORP)

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of an Honor's Degree (NFQ level 7) in Supply Chain Management or other related Business discipline is essential
  • Supply Chain Certification is preferred e.g. APICS
  • Project Management or Lean Certification is desirable

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years relevant Supply Chain Management experience
  • Experience in Planning in a pharmaceutical environment with strong technical/systems background is desirable
  • Experience of SAP is essential
  • Power BI or similar data analytics visual tool knowledge is desirable but not essential
  • Experience working in a GMP environment for a minimum of 1 years
  • Project Management with a focus on value creation and waste reduction programmes highly desirable
