Job Summary:

Mechanical Estimator supports the department by preparing tenders and quotations to be submitted to clients and contractors. The Mechanical Estimator prepares tender prices from engineered drawings and the bill of materials supplied by the client. 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors.
  • Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
  • Maintain cost data base by entering and backing up data.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings for clarification
  • Attend pre-tender meetings
  • Track estimates against actual costs and analyze for possible improvements to processes
  • Revise bid packages and prepare addendums as needed
  • Manage small projects
  • Provide Project Coordination and support to the Regional Manager Atlantic. 
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management

 Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in mechanical systems or construction.
  • Excellence in teamwork, professionalism, integrity, fiscal responsibility, and a customer focused mentality.
  • Exhibits strong business acumen, skills and maturity and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
  • Proven ability in accurately estimating mechanical projects.
  • Highly developed organizational and planning skills, time management skills and written/oral communications skills
