Position Summary: 

The Technician I is responsible for the startup, testing/commissioning, documenting of construction projects and to facilitate the timely turnover to the client and the service team. The Technician I will report directly to a team project manager and work closely with the design engineer to ensure they have the tools necessary to be successful on each project. The Technician I will work professionally with both internal and external clients and will have the ability to work independently or part of a team. 

  

 Responsibilities: 

  • Startup and testing of building automation systems.
  • Working directly with clients and subcontractors to facilitate the installation of designed control systems.
  • Follows a systematic plan for complete startup of systems and turnover to project team.
  • Responsible for documentation of startup process for the system.
  • Responsible to communicate with the project manager and client to assist in the effective completion of the project.
  • Takes initiative to find solutions
  • Coordinate the punch-out of front-end system
  • Interfaces with Electrician on coordination items

REGULAR DUTIES 

  • Documentation of tested points / and wiring runs
  • Startup/Testing of terminal unit and air handling unit controllers as well as central plant controllers (HW Systems, CHW Systems, and CW Systems)
  • Communicate directives to electrical subcontractors for proper installation of our control components.
  • Interface with 3rd party manufacturer controls
  • Read wiring diagrams to determine proper terminations to mechanical equipment
  • Terminate and trouble shoot wiring and system components
  • Creation of software points in the controllers
  • Testing of automatic programming sequence
  • Maintains daily reports on project progress and open items
  • Continually enforces safety to the highest standards


Qulifications
 

  • High School or GED required; Associates degree in HVAC or Control Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 0-2+ years of experience as a DDC Technician
  • Proficient with a computer - Microsoft Office Suite and adaptable to new software platforms
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and sequences of operations
  • Reading and understand mechanical design documents (duct layouts, piping schematics, riser diagrams)
  • Reading Manufacturer's wire diagrams
  • Experienced abilities in problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work independent or part of a team
  • Presents a positive image for the company
  • Seeks high level of quality in their work and to exceed client expectations (internal and external)
  • Possess a desire to continually learn and strive towards excellence
