Job Summary:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Analyst actively participates in earnings, supplemental, off-cycle, and stock payroll processing and auditing. The Senior Payroll Analyst will also engage in multiple simultaneous Workday HCM and Payroll projects focused on improving payroll accuracy, daily functionality, and employee and manager experiences. This position will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) supporting, assessing, and advancing the usage of HR technology solutions. The Senior Payroll Analyst position will be responsible for delegating and prioritizing work, managing escalation inquiries, and working with team members to meet deadlines.

The Senior Payroll Analyst will actively participate in the entire project life cycle of requirements gathering, configuration, testing, training, documenting, and deploying the project. The Senior Payroll Analyst will help ensure the accuracy and completeness of payroll transactions with a focus on non-standard processing, including employee-level tax adjustments and company-level configuration. Accuracy responsibilities include overseeing and validating including team manual entries, stock options and RSU processing. Attention to detail and mindfulness of the big picture is essential for success in this role. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains strict confidentiality over employee data and information.
  • Works with managers and employees, being a senior point of contact, to ensure that queries and problems are resolved promptly, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Serves as back-up for Payroll Manager and other team members when they are out of the office.
  • Leads and participates in audits of the payroll system, as needed.
  • Leads in the review and development of payroll processes, procedures and systems including a strong focus on functionality and control. Create and maintain up to date standard operating procedures, as needed.
  • Coordinates with functional and technical staff, leads system-related projects and initiatives (such as new releases, adoption and implementation of new functionality and business process configuration changes) in HR and Payroll.
  • Supports testing of compliance at year-end (401(k), Health Savings Accounts, W-2s, etc.).
  • Collaborates with Workday Community and user groups to resolve issues found within Workday and to proactively remain informed about Workday enhancements.
  • Assists with annual audits as needed, including 401(k), Worker’s Compensation and various payroll audits.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all employees and internal/external partners.
  • Maintains tax jurisdiction setup in partnership with payroll tax team.
  • Works with Payroll Manager and HR to ensure the smooth onboarding of new/acquired employees.
  • Coordinates with internal partners to ensure processes are streamlined, documented, and without error.
  • Develops ad hoc reports as requested by Payroll management.
  • Identifies opportunities for process and operational improvements utilizing standard configurations.
  • Adherence to and application of Envestnet legal, compliance, risk, business continuity and administrative policy within the role and department(s) including the timely completion of training & awareness, affirmations and testing as requested. 
  • As part of the responsibilities for this role, you will understand and readily support Envestnet's established corporate business practices, policies, internal controls and procedures designed to create value or minimize risk.

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5-10 years of experience processing and analyzing a multi-state and multi-national payroll.
  • 1+ years of Workday experience (HCM and Payroll) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with US Tax Compliance, including Federal, State, and locals.
  • Experience performing tax adjustments, detailed and complex audits, and manual tax calculations.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Availability to work as needed to process off-cycle payments and stock transactions which may include nights and/or weekends at times.
  • Excellent computer skills, including payroll software and proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to work with general supervision and work independently. Will need to use multiple methods of communication to stay strongly connected to the payroll team and internal partners within a heavily remote team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills especially with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively motivate others as you drive for results in challenging conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • SOX Compliance experience preferred.

Salary:

The annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $110,000
