Leave Specialist

Summary:
The Leave Specialist serves as a liaison and day-to-day contact for third- party leave administrations, employees, managers and HR Business Partner during the lifecycle of an employee�s leave of absence. These leave types include short term disability, NY Covid Sick Leave, Nuvance Health�s Covid Sick Leave, Paid Family Leave, Family Medical Leave, Workers Compensation and Personal Leaves of Absence. Supports Nuvance Health�s achievement of desired competitive plan offerings, as well as other system goals and initiatives. Contributes to compensation and benefits programs to enhance Nuvance Health's ability to recruit, motivate and retain talented employees.
Responsibilities:
1.Coordinates the processing of all Leaves of Absence (LOA) according to Nuvance Health�s Leave of Absence policies, union contracts and all applicable federal and state laws such as ADA, FMLA etc.Has a thorough understanding of company policies to ensure accurate, fair and consistent policy provisions.
2. Intakes employee questions/concerns regarding leaves of absence benefits, HR policy and program administration in a friendly, supportive, and responsive manner. Partner with employee�s manager, HRBP and leave of absence vendor on complex issues or concerns.
3. Serves as the main point of contact for employees regarding LOA�s for Nuvance Health and all affiliates, communicating LOA policy, rights and benefit coordination with employees.
4. Provides information to managers and employees on LOA procedures and policies. Informs managers and employees of leave payroll processing matters.
5. Manages lifecycle of individual disability related medical and pregnancy accommodations.
6. Serves as a liaison with third-party leave and worker�s compensation administrators, Employee Health, the employee's manager, employee�s HR Business Partner for the effective processing of the leave lifecycle.
7. Assists in the coordination of the Worker�s Compensation Case Management Program to help ensure an injured employee receives medical care in a timely and cost effective manner and to facilitate the employee's earliest return to work.
8. Receives, processes and approves bi-weekly payroll files from third-party administrator with appropriate allocation of Paid Time Off/Approved Leave Bank/COVID Sick Pay for timely and accurate payroll processing.
9. Manage timecard for employees out on NY Covid Sick Pay and nonunion employees out on a continuous leave of absence (STD, FMLA, PFL etc.)
10. Management of shared LOA/ADA inboxes and phone line.
11. Assists with accurate reporting and compliance for all applicable laws and regulations regarding federal and state leaves.
12. Keeps abreast of legislative changes. Proactively raises potential concerns to Total Rewards leaders and recommend changes to processes where applicable.
13. Maintain and Model Nuvance Health Values.
14. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
15. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
- Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion and work in a team setting.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
- Strong customer service skillset.
- Knowledge of data management systems.
- PREFER: Experience with Infor, Lawson, and/or other HR Information Systems PREFER: FMLA Compliance and/or ADA/ADAAA Certification
