Job Summary: To provide mechanical and electrical service to the Multi-Color Cwmbran site, particularly the Production Department in terms of maintaining mechanical machines and site services to achieve minimal downtime as well as reduced engineering costs.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake work as directed by the Engineering Manager or the Engineering Supervisor.
- Work on both mechanical and electrical plant, carry out installation work and assist with project work.
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance to reduce future unplanned downtime.
- Respond to unplanned breakdowns, ensuring downtime is minimised.
- Undertake facilities maintenance where necessary.
- Supervise sub-contractors where necessary.
- Adhere to Health & Safety policies, procedures and standards, especially permit to work procedures.
- Assist with ensuring the spares section operates efficiently.
- Report any unsafe machinery, accidents or unsafe practices to the Engineering Manager, General Manager, Health & Safety Manager or Human Resources Manager immediately.
- Work closely with production personnel and other employees to quickly identify problematic issues or causes of breakdowns as well as other downtime.
- Undertake fault diagnosis and take corrective measures to ensure integrity and reliability of Production Department.
- Work a range of shifts as dictated by the organisation, to provide maximum coverage whilst production is in operation.
- Fault finding using Programmable Logic Controllers.
- Work additional hours on overtime where necessary to provide sickness and annual leave coverage.
- To follow Company procedures and policies re Multi-Color Quality and ISO systems.
- To participate in and monitor all continuous improvement programmes within the scope of the department and role.
