The primary responsibility is to provide leadership for assuring continuous quality improvement in the division. Develops and implements the organization's quality strategy and indirectly manages a staff of quality control and quality assurance professionals. Defines the appropriate and adequate procedures and measures of control for the process and satisfy client’s expectation by meeting the quality standards. Performs all functions of personnel management of department employees in accordance with company policies.
Responsibilities:
Quality Improvement:
- Champions continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish and enforce an effective Quality Management System (QMS) and is the subject matter expert in the area of quality processes.
- Utilizes Lean Sigma methodology (DMAIC, SPC, QFD, 3P, poka yoke, kaizen, etc) to drive improvements in processes to reduce defects.
- Supports supplier quality management including evaluation of supplier quality data to identify process improvements and opportunities.
- Establishes and implements various training programs including in order to drive cultural change and to assure high levels of expertise, support and compliance in areas related to quality system functions.
- Coaches and develops plant Quality Managers in effective use of quality tools such as root cause counter measure (RCCM), measurement systems analysis (MSA), and statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems. (QMS).
Quality Administration:
- Leads quality organization and defines areas of responsibility, personnel requirements and operational procedures within the quality assurance program.
- Establishes effective quality management system by updating quality assurance manual and procedures.
- Reviews and standardizes control plans, closed loop corrective action systems and quality management systems in all plants.
- Develops and administers audit plan to verify plant adherence to MCC quality management system.
- Assures supplier quality by enforcing quality assurance standards, policies and industry/government requirements.
- Collaborates with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs and manufacturing and training methods.
- Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Provides cost of quality.
- Leads quality organization and defines areas of responsibility, personnel requirements and operational procedures within the quality assurance program.
- Achieves overall financial objectives by making fiscally responsible business decisions; preparing and meeting the quality assurance budget; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Talent Management:
- Provides performance management input for quality staff to support performance assessment, ongoing substantive development plans and acquisition of “A” level talent.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; achieving certifications, establishing personal networks; participates in professional societies.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Below are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge, and skills required to competently perform in this position. - Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, manufacturing technology or Business Administration (related technical discipline may be considered) or 10 years of direct experience with requisites in lieu of degree required.
- Requires a minimum of 10 years in leadership role in the area of quality, with minimum of 5 years in multisite quality leadership (direct experience in one or multiple additional areas; engineering, manufacturing and/or lean deployment,).
- Demonstrated problem solver with direct experience coaching, teaching, and applying lean sigma, six sigma, and lean manufacturing techniques.
- Advanced skillsets in statistical process control, change management, and legacy quality tools such as PDCA, FMEA, control plans, etc required.
- Certified Lean, Six Sigma or CQE required (ASQ or lean certification such as TBM, Shinghijutsu, and Danaher etc.)
- Required to travel up 80%. Ability to travel outside the U.S. is required.
