 Job Summary:

MCC Label is looking to fill a vacancy of a Key Account Manager who will be based at the Johannesburg office and will be responsible for managing an existing portfolio of customers within the Food and Beverage segment as well extending our market share across South Africa with targeted new customers.

This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as a strong business acumen. The Key Account Manager is responsible for ensuring client satisfaction, maximizing sales opportunities, and driving revenue growth within the assigned accounts.

Job Duties:

  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as their main point of contact within the organization. Understand their business objectives, challenges, and requirements.
  • Account Planning: Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve revenue targets and business goals. Identify growth opportunities within assigned accounts and create strategies to capitalize on them. Participate in setting of budgets and goals for each financial year and the attainment of these budgets.
  • Account Management: Manage the collection and dissemination of customer forecasts.
  • Facilitate the handling of quality incidents raised by customers. Maintain finished goods inventory levels in line with business targets. Facilitate payment of overdue debtors. Control and maintain all pricing schedules and ensure effective recovery of all adjustments. Report on customer and market activity monthly. Actively promote awareness of the MCC brand in trade.
  • Sales and Revenue Generation: Drive sales activities, including cross-selling and upselling opportunities, to increase revenue within assigned accounts. Collaborate with the customers and internal teams to ensure accurate forecasting and achievement of sales targets.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Monitor customer satisfaction levels and proactively address any issues or concerns. Act as an advocate for the client within the organization and ensure that their needs are met in a timely and satisfactory manner. Maintain a monthly structured visit plan to all customers and report back on market activity.
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities within assigned accounts and actively pursue them. Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge. Continuously seek ways to improve sales processes, enhance customer satisfaction, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, such as marketing, product development, and customer support, to align strategies and deliver exceptional customer experiences. Provide mentorship to the assigned Sales Administrator. Develop relationships with key personnel across MCC’s Global sites to keep abreast of innovations within the Global Key Accounts
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on key account metrics, sales activities, and progress towards goals. Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Maintain all customer, market and prospecting information within Salesforce.

 

Experience/Skills /Education Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of successful experience in key account management within the Packaging sector, specifically serving customers in the Food & Beverage industry - this is a pre-requisite for this position.
  • A degree or diploma in sales and marketing or a related business qualification would be advantageous.
  • Strong network and established relationships within the Dairy packaging and Home & Personal Care markets are highly desirable.
  • Proficient in strategic planning and problem-solving, with the ability to analyze market trends, identify business opportunities, and develop effective strategies.
  • Proven ability to achieve and surpass sales targets, with a focus on revenue growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships, understanding client needs, and providing effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with CRM software, sales analytics tools, and relevant software applications.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of supply and demand planning methodology.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas and present them convincingly.
  • A creative thinker who can explore alternative approaches and generate new ideas.
  • Self-disciplined and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
