ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly motivated Director of Technical Accounting to join our Finance team. This is a Group finance function role which includes oversight over LeoVegas Group. This individual will be responsible for researching, interpreting, and implementing complex accounting standards (IFRS and bridge accounting to US GAAP), supporting reporting financials to a U.S. public Company, and be a key advisor to senior leadership on the accounting implications of business transactions and initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in technical accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to navigate cross-border financial reporting challenges. This role requires proactive engagement with the finance team, auditors, tax team, valuation experts, and other senior stakeholders across the group.

You will report to the Senior Group Finance Director (Sweden) and work closely with the Senior Vice President, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting (US). We are a global team with fantastic colleagues located at our different offices in Malta, Sweden, UK, Italy, Netherlands, Colombia, Brazil and the US.

This is a critical role in ensuring compliance and accurate financial reporting in a dynamic, fast-paced public company environment.
 
YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: 
  • Research and analyze technical accounting issues under IFRS and U.S. GAAP. 
  • Provide expert guidance and draft accounting position papers and memos on complex accounting issues such as: 
  • Share-based compensation
  • Debt and Equity instruments
  • Revenue recognition 
  • Business combinations
  • Lease accounting 
  • Fair Value measurement and management review of assumptions
  • Consolidation 
  • Provide technical accounting support across the LeoVegas Group (“phone-a-friend” role) and coordinate with the finance team to align material accounting treatments and reporting impact.
  • Monitor changes in IFRS/US GAAP and assess their impact on the group’s financial reporting. 
  • Overall coordination and oversight of our Brazilian entity to understand impact from standalone vs Group reporting in relation to revenue recognition, bonusing agreement, new tax legislations and other contractual obligations. 
  • Responsible to oversee and account for Management Incentive Programs, option holder valuations and related equity transactions. 
  • Align tax accounting with the tax team on material tax items and assess impact. 
  • Provide oversight on technical accounting for cash flow statements.
  • Support as accounting expert for M&A activities and provide memo documentation. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Business Control/FP&A on technical accounting matters.
  • Partner with external auditors to support annual audits and quarterly reviews covering complex accounting issues.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Provide training and guidance on technical accounting issues to broader finance and accounting teams.
OUR SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

Essential skills: 
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in technical accounting, ideally in a multinational or Big 4 environment.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and internal controls related to financial reporting.
  • Experience with accounting for equity instruments and stock-based compensation.
  • Experience in a public company environment
  • Strong analytical, writing, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus but not required.
Nice to have skills:
  • Experience from an international environment, the iGaming industry or other tech related industries.
