Due to our continued growth, we're now looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our high performing team. 

We are looking for a talented, business-minded Senior Legal Counsel with strong leadership skills to join our dynamic in-house commercial legal team. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will be part of an international team of lawyers, working on projects related to our rapidly expanding business including online gaming brands and related businesses that LeoVegas Group (the “Group”) operates in multiple jurisdictions as part of MGM Resorts International..

As our Senior Legal Counsel, you will...

  • Draft, review, and offer guidance on a variety of simple and complex contracts including marketing and sponsorship agreements (previous examples include football and celebrity sponsorships), non-disclosure, affiliate and consultancy agreements, and any other legal documentation as required;
  • Build relationships with and become a trusted business partner to commercial stakeholders by advising them promptly, proactively, commercially and pragmatically to help the Group be as effective as possible in achieving its strategy, vision and purpose;
  • Lead negotiations on commercial deals with third parties and/or their representatives;
  • Provide tailored legal advice in a practical and commercially focussed way to internal stakeholders on a wide range of issue including on risks in contracts;
  • Extend support to the HR team on human resource related matters;
  • Develop internal policies and procedures and ensure successful implementation and training;
  • Raise the business awareness around key commercial legal risks and mitigations;
  • Lead innovation and use of technology to simplify and improve the delivery of legal services;
  • Monitor, research and advise with relevant  legal developments, industry regulations, and best practices in various jurisdictions to ensure the company’s legal strategies remain current and effective;
  • Proactively supporting the Head of Legal and Director of Legal with the development of all legal and governance frameworks;
  • Lead resolution of disputes, including contract disputes and potential litigation, collaborating  with external legal counsel if required;
  • Ensure appropriate processes and procedures are in place in respect of assigned areas of responsibility;
  • Lead complex legal projects that span legal, business, and functional boundaries (e.g., cross geographies, subject matter areas, jurisdictions, organisations, etc.);
  • Deal with any post-contractual legal issues that may arise;
  • Act as line manager and mentor, teach and motivate junior members of the legal team; and
  • Ensure timely progression of ongoing commercial contracts and legal requests

Your areas of knowledge and experience:

  • Qualified solicitor (5 years plus PQE) with experience either in-house or within a private practice law firm.
  • A wealth of experience in drafting, negotiating and reviewing complex commercial agreements.
  • Ability to analyse complex topics and provide practical advice and solutions.
  • Sound business acumen and commercial awareness with an ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively.
  • Deadline and delivery focused.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to influence, challenge and exercise sound judgement.
  • Willingness to mentor and develop junior members of the legal team.
  • Proactive approach in identifying legal risks and proposing practical preventive strategies.
  • Team player with the ability to work and build strong relationships with colleagues across different areas of the organisation and various levels of seniority  in a multicultural and multinational environment.
  • Self-driven and able to take ownership of all tasks and projects and drive them through to completion, while managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Uphold a high standard of work ethic, always ensuring to complete assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner, assuring same for tasks assigned to members of your team.
  • Experience in the gaming, marketing or technology sectors would be an asset but not required.Willingness to learn and curiosity about new areas are sufficient.
