Due to our continued growth, we're now looking for a Head of Legal to join our high performing team.
As Head of Legal, you will be responsible for leading an international team of legal professionals who provide legal advice and support to LeoVegas Group (the Group), the digital arm of MGM Resorts International.
Reporting to the Director of Legal, you will aim to provide the best class of timely legal advice to various stakeholders and departments across the business and work closely with them to support the Group’s strategic goals.
You will have responsibility for managing, leading and developing a team of lawyers, which will take ownership of several legal work streams within the business. Your role will be integral to ensure that the Group operates within the law and follows regulatory requirements.
As our Head of Legal, you will…
- Lead a team of lawyers, including by overseeing projects, managing workload, providing necessary training and development, handling recruitment, establishing team goals and objectives, and setting out clear and appropriate policies and procedures for the teams.
- Ensure clear and concise reporting to the Director of Legal and other senior members of the Legal & Compliance function.
- Have a “sleeves up” approach and be willing to work on the day to day items, including reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and other legal agreements as required.
- Support the Director of Legal to develop best practice templates and processes to ensure the efficient running of the department and also to minimise risk.
- Maintain good relationships with key suppliers and /or stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Work closely with other departments to provide legal support and ensure alignment with the Group’s goals.
- Work together and build strong relationships with other LeCo function departments, including Compliance, Regulatory, Regulated Product and Risk and Assurance, to ensure that the Group complies with all relevant laws, regulations and industry standards.
- Keep up to date with legal and regulatory developments in the iGaming industry and ensure the Group is prepared to comply with any changes.
- Implement and manage systems related to the legal function, including management and oversight of technology implemented to enable legal reporting and risk.
- Communicate and align regularly with MGM Resorts International (MGMRI) legal counterparts, and support the Director of Legal in developing, implementing and overseeing processes to ensure compliance with MGMRI reporting requirements for relevant legal areas.
- Lead by example, both in work ethic and in legal skills, ensuring that junior and mid-level lawyers are trained, developed, and on a path of continual improvement and that all legal matters are consistently improved, reported on and monitored.
- Keep up-to-date with legal and regulatory developments in legal areas for which you are responsible and ensure the Group is prepared to comply with any changes.
Your areas of knowledge and experience:
We are seeking to recruit this role from internal candidates as it is our preference to grow talent from within the Group, but are open to discussions with external candidates who strictly meet the following minimum requirements.

- Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
- A minimum of 2 years experience within the online gambling industry within a leading B2C or B2B industry group or with a reputable law firm servicing clients within the gambling industry.
- Proven experience of managing a team of legal professionals.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and regulatory law, with a focus on the remote gaming industry; Experience of other areas of law would be considered an asset.
- A team and Group first attitude.
- Experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts and training others to do the same.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commercial acumen, communication and interpersonal skills, including, where possible, an element of humour or personality in such delivery.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
