Position Title: Mid to Mid+ Software/Application Engineer
Location: Hybrid - Medellin/Bogota
What you will be doing:
We are seeking a skilled .NET/C# Backend Developer to join our dynamic team, supporting multiple business domains such as geoscience, reservoir operations, and business process automation. The ideal candidate will work closely with our existing team members to maintain and enhance applications critical to our core oil and gas business. Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide level 2 and level 3 support for backend applications, including debugging, upgrading, and configuring software.
- Collaborate with business users to gather requirements, perform analysis, and translate those into effective technical solutions.
- Conduct daily tasks such as data changes, application maintenance, and server management, ensuring seamless operation and minimal downtime.
- Engage in the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including design, development, testing, and deployment of applications.
- Take full ownership of assigned applications and systems, proactively addressing issues and proposing enhancements to improve functionality.
- Coordinate with IT admins, database administrators, and other team members to support lifecycle activities like server upgrades and database migrations.
- Utilize strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across various platforms and domains.
Requirements & Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- +3 years of working experience in product/application support.
- Proficient in .NET Framework and C# for backend support and development.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and Procedural SQL; ability to handle complex queries and database operations.
- Proven experience in handling level 2 and level 3 support activities, including debugging and application enhancement.
- Prior experience working in a support role that includes both technical troubleshooting and direct user interaction.
- Experience with client-server architecture and three-tier applications, including server, client, and database layers.
- Understanding of enterprise-level support for business applications, especially in environments requiring high availability and performance.
- Ability to work independently, taking initiative to understand business requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and its practical application in real-world scenarios.
- Familiarity with Visual Studio and REST APIs is a plus.
- Experience in the oil and gas industry is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in independent problem-solving and decision-making.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive and self-motivated, capable of working independently and taking full ownership of tasks.
