Position Summary:

The Manager, Public Policy & Regulatory Affairs will lead EVgo’s regulatory interventions at various Public Utilities Commissions across the country. The ideal candidate must have strong writing skills, experience interacting with Public Utilities Commissions and preparing written and oral testimony, and a general understanding of utility tariff structures. The position is remote, but preference is for candidates with experience in markets in the Central U.S.

Remote: Preferred Locations: Chicago, Austin, Detroit, Columbus, Philadelphia, Denver. Ability to travel post-pandemic.

 Responsibilities:

  • Draft written testimony in EV dockets and utility rate case and regulatory proceedings related to EV charging and rate design and serve as an expert witness as needed.
  • Develop EVgo’s policy positions and strategy.
  • Collaborate with the rates team and outside consultants to conduct quantitative analyses on potential electric rate structures and incentive programs.
  • Engage with regulators and government officials.
  • Provide and contribute to shaping thought leadership on policies that will increase transportation electrification.
  • Manage outside regulatory counsel and other consultants.
  • Work collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams and external coalitions stakeholders, including trade associations, consumer advocates, and NGOs.
  • Monitor rate filings, state legislative action, trade press, and other sources for developments in EV charging and position EVgo accordingly.

 Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience on issues related to transportation electrification, clean energy, or energy efficiency.
  • Experience working at a utility or public service commission a plus. • Engagement and resolution on policy issues in the Central U.S.
  • Skillful at navigating regulatory dockets, legislative strategy, and public speaking
  • Strong analytical and Excel modeling skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret utility tariffs, regulations, and technical documents.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills and interest in furthering those in a variety of settings.
  • Fundamental understanding of EV charging technologies, interconnection procedures, rate design, and utility rate-making process.
  • Willingness to take initiative, work through obstacles, and drive projects forward.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented.
  • Ability to synergize cross-functionally.
