Position Summary:     
     
The Senior Energy Product Manager will be the business owner of one of EVgo’s largest cost line items.  The Senior Product Manager will play a pivotal role in achieving a best-in-class cost structure.  Today, EVgo manages energy costs at over 1,000 locations, working with over 100 utilities.  The Senior Product Manager will implement systems, processes and reporting that will allow EVgo to efficiently manage energy costs across this growing and distributed footprint.  This position sits within the Strategy & Analytics team and requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional collaboration skills.       
     
Responsibilities   
  • Rate Structure Optimization: Conduct full audits of current rate structures and continuously monitor for new, more optimal structures due to utility changes or shifts in location characteristics. Lead the establishment of processes for rate selection, bill audits, and proactive management of rate expirations in collaboration with cross-functional departments.  
  • Reporting and Analysis: Leverage third party software and work with cross-functional stakeholders to develop budgets, variance analysis, custom accruals, and utility bill processing. 
  • Dynamic Pricing Collaboration: Work closely with the Pricing team to implement dynamic pricing strategies for retail and fleet customers, aiming to maximize gross margins. 
  • Market Development and Public Policy: Build and manage analytical tools with the Market Development and Public Policy team, along with utility stakeholders, to shape future EV specific tariff structures.   
  • Emission Offset Program Management: Oversee the direction of emission offset markets, assist with forecast and pricing strategies, evaluate hedging strategies, and establish reporting initiatives. 
  • Long-Term Strategic Initiatives: Guide the company's involvement in organized wholesale markets and the exploration of Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs), aiming for significant energy cost reductions and enhanced sustainability practices. 
Required Skills and Experience:

Preferred Experience   
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Economics, Public Policy, or related fields.  
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience, with a preference for candidates who have worked with or for electric utilities and renewable energy companies. 
  • In-depth knowledge of energy markets, utility tariff structures, and procurement strategies.  
  • Proficiency in data analysis and building and managing models, at scale, is essential. Working proficiency in Python, SQL, Excel is required.  
  • Exceptional strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to manage incomplete data sets and address undefined problems. Strong prioritization skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. 
  • Proven leadership experience in cross-functional project management and collaboration with an emphasis on attention to detail and accountability. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex analyses and strategies to senior management effectively. 
For job positions in CA, CO and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $150,000 USD to $170,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus and restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval).
