Position Summary      
      
We are seeking a talented and passionate individual to run the Software Development team at PlugShare, a leading electric vehicle (EV) charging platform that empowers users to find charging stations, leave reviews, and connect with other plug-in vehicle owners.  This position will be based remotely and report to our General Manager.      
      
As the Head of Software, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of product management and development across all business segments.  You will lead a talented product and engineering team in advancing (1) our digital properties for EV drivers, (2) our enterprise suite of data licensing services, and (3) an e-Mobility Service Provider (eMSP) solution to seamlessly connect EV drivers and Auto Manufacturers (OEMs) with a broad network of Charge Point Operators (CPOs). The ideal candidate would be a product-minded engineering leader. Success in this role will require building rapport with cross-functional decision makers internally and externally and understanding how our key constituents leverage EV mobility service providers and infrastructure data to meet their business needs.

Responsibilities      
  • Define and execute the strategic roadmap in alignment with company goals, driving the software development lifecycle from concept to deployment  
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams, serving as a trusted advisor in providing strategic direction that shapes our market and product strategy and builds consensus around tough trade-off decisions  
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning by championing frequent tests and iterations, while also incorporating feedback from internal and external stakeholders to improve our products  
  • Support the team in delivering APIs based on architecture frameworks and guidelines  
  • Oversee delivery of mobile, web, API, and data products, providing hands-on input as needed 
  • Identify growth opportunities to expand our engagement with existing partners  
  • Manage a software product and engineering team to deliver excellent user experiences  
  • Stay informed of the latest industry trends in EV charging (e.g., protocols, standards, eMSPs, feature sets)
Required Skills and Experience:      
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field of study
  • 10+ years of related professional experience in software development and/or product management, preferably with experience in consumer mobile, payments, data aggregation and external API development
  • Deep understanding of full-stack development, with experience delivering mobile applications, front-end proficiency in either Swift or Objective-C, Kotlin or Java, JavaScript and CSS, and back-end programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Ruby
  • Proficiency with cloud offerings (AWS) and SQL (PostgreSQL)
  • Ability to design efficient data structures to pass info back and forth, and familiarity with Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) protocol and ISO15118 standard is a plus
  • Understanding of API design principles and experience developing external APIs, drafting technical documentation and scaling adoption
  • Ability to periodically review code developed by engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholders, both internal and external 
  • A data-driven mindset, aptitude with instrumentation and data collection best practices and analytics tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to make informed decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of the electric vehicle industry and clean energy technologies is a plus
For job positions in CA, CO and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $215,000 USD to $230,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus and restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval).
