About the role:
To power our growth, we are currently seeking a talented Sr. Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the team developing Portable Energy Storage systems. In this role, you will lead medium to large projects and tackle significant issues. You will also interface and have regular communication with teams from Hardware, Manufacturing, Marketing, Program Management, Quality, and Compliance.
What you will do:
- Be experienced leader on technology development
- Taking parts and assemblies from concept to production – design, prototype, produce drawings, evaluate parts, collaboration with suppliers, and contract manufacturing
- Executing the engineering and verification testing of parts and finished products
- Investigating, analyzing, and resolving issues and failures of products in development, and contributing to these activities for existing products (DFMEA, PFMEA)
- Technical decisions regarding design
- Managing global suppliers to produce parts and assemblies on schedule
- Meeting quarterly project progress targets, with goals that come all the way from the CEO
- Lead and mentor a team of 6-8
- Deliver projects on schedule
- Identify and allocate tasks and resources required
- Provide engineering oversight and guidance
- Review and approve drawings and documents
- Facilitate rigorous design reviews
Who you are and what you bring:
- Experience with an enterprise CAD Package (Solidworks preferred)
- Tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering or similar
- 12+ years related experience + BS, 8+ years related experience + MS or 5+ yrs PhD
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods such as injection molding, sheet metal, or die-casting
- Experience with other functions such as Quality, Manufacturing, or Production
- Knowledge of connectors and cable assemblies
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence and Arena for project process control
- Experience in prompt documentation preparation
