FLSA STATUS: anticipated

SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $85,000 to $110,000 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment. 

 

SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer is an experienced level position requiring a minimum of 3 years in one or more of the following areas: Electronic Components, Battery Assemblies, Configuration Management, Supplier Management, Audits, Inspection techniques (non-destructive, electronics, mechanical), or Manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include designing quality standards, inspecting materials, equipment, processes, and products, developing quality control systems/control plans, process FMEA and determining corrective actions. Knowledge of ISO9001 / AS9100 Standard.   

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties. 

  • Performs inspections and sets quality assurance testing models for analysis of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products  
  • Performs In process audits to ISO 9001/AS9100 Standard  
  • Develops Quality Control Plans for production assemblies  
  • Develops & Implements quality control policies and evaluates production limitations  
  • Developing and implementing new or revised quality and control standards.  
  • Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met.  
  • Coordinates & assists with internal and external audits acting as primary point of contact  
  • Participates in Root Cause and Corrective Action process through full life cycle  
  • Supports the RMA process  
  • In conjunction with the Quality Manager collaborates with operations managers to develop and implement controls and improvements.  
  • Ensuring that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations.  
  • Investigating and troubleshooting product or production issues.  
  • Implements and monitors corrective actions, solutions, and improvements  
  • Works collaboratively & in conjunction with the larger function  

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electronics, or Engineering OR 4 years of relevant experience in lieu
  • 3+ years in progressive Quality Engineering position.  
  • Previous responsibility with supporting design, set-up and implementation of a QMS System  
  • Understanding and experience in aerospace standards AS9100 &/or ISO-9001, and its general practices.  
  • Familiarity with calibration processes and documentation.  
  • Excellent internal and external Customer interface skills.  
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills & ability to get things done through influence  
  • Proven ability to lead projects that are complex in nature  

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electronics or Engineering
  • Working knowledge of ESD requirements and practices
  • Electrical and electronic inspection processes. (preferred)  
  • Working knowledge of GSE systems and general associated equipment
  • ASQ certification CQE or Higher
  • J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610 certifications
  • Knowledge of Hybrid or Standard Battery Construction and Assembly.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
