Instructional Designer

  • Assess, design and develop "user-friendly" instructional materials including training modules, manuals, teaching aids, leader led, self-paced study and implement multimedia for a blended learning environment.
  • Conduct structured needs assessments and provides detailed recommendations to Director of Learning and Development.
  • Design programs using a systematic instructional design process with an outcomes-based methodology.
  • Develop and designs training scripts to be used in online learning modules.
  • Manages collaborative training meetings inclusive of project sites, meeting agendas, and meeting minutes.
  • Maintains training content applies revisions as requested by the business clients.
  • Evaluate training programs using systematic instructional design processes.
  • Revise existing training materials and programs based on audit results, questionnaires, changing procedures, and business feedback to maximize group dynamics using "learner focused" environments, instructional design principles and accelerated learning methods.
  • Continuously review all online training programs to ensure they meet the business needs and design/competency standards that are set forth by the Director of Learning and Development.
  • Propose plans to reduce classroom time, increase self-study, and online learning with proven ROI.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate "train the trainer" sessions as necessary to support online training initiatives.
  • Lead training measurement standards and ensures process consistency.
  • Manages and maintain training content libraries and source documentation, collaboration and public areas.
  • Run and assess monthly training content site reports.
  • Ensure assessment requirements and standards for all training programs.
  • Assist Director of Learning and Development with tasks as required.
  • Curriculum guidance received from subject matter experts, program sponsors and executive leadership.



  • Typically reports to Management Direct Supervisor job title(s) Typically include: Director of Learning and Development, Director of Human Resources, HR Manager, Operations Director.
  • Job is not directly responsible for managing other employees.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Adobe Creative Suite of Products (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Audition, Premier).
  • Articulate Suite, Claro, LMS Authoring Tools.
  • Ability to create assessment reports which clearly identify performance gaps and causes.
  • Experience with various design or publishing software applications.
  • Proficient in use of online learning software development tools.



  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) in Instructional Design or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Instructional Design experience, developing e-learning and Instructor-Led Training materials.
  • Experience designing impactful and importable SCORM compliant courseware.
  • Experience conducting needs assessments, job task analyses, and program evaluations.
  • Experience managing all technical aspects of a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Experience developing and designing training manuals, training presentations, job aids, and other print-based training materials.
