Job Title: EPC Procurement Manager

Position Summary:

 

The EPC Procurement Manager is responsible for managing all procurement activities related to the delivery of battery energy storage systems (BESS), furthering the deployment of Canadian Solar’s integrated solution for the utility-scale energy storage market in the United Kingdom.

This role is pivotal in growing a new division within an established renewable energy company, driving productive and sustainable relationships with external and internal business partners (both suppliers and customers) to ensure the ongoing development and success of our business expansion.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate expertise in facilitating vendor selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing contract administration for utility-scale battery storage contracts.
  • Manage relationships with major international battery storage equipment vendors and develop a multi-year procurement strategy in cooperation with the leadership team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key players in the energy storage marketplace to understand and monitor the commercial readiness of emerging technologies; manage vendor onboarding and internal prequalification processes.
  • Document current and future pricing guidance of all battery technologies to inform cost and technology roadmap development and sourcing strategies.
  • Support and lead bidding and contracting efforts for battery storage sourcing in coordination with development, engineering, construction, and legal teams.
  • Manage the development of RFP documentation, bidding strategies, identification, and qualification of bidders.
  • Support the evaluation of bid responses and make shortlist and award recommendations that drive value creation and mitigate risk.
  • Negotiate agreements regarding scope, price, terms & conditions, delivery, and contract changes with suppliers.
  • Ensure procurement activities meet objectives related to safety, cost, delivery performance, schedule, and quality.
  • Deliver and support team resolution on material changes to agreements for both commercial and technical issues.
  • Coordinate and manage the issuance and administration of purchase orders, including coordination of deliveries, invoicing, payment, and lien waivers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to gather and maintain specifications, scopes of work, and standards to be followed for storage projects.

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience in contract management, supply chain management, or procurement.

 

  • Minimum 5-7 years of broad procurement and contracts experience in battery storage preferred; related industries will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience managing RFP documentation, bidding strategies, identification, and qualification of bidders.
  • Deep understanding of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and the relationship between vendors and suppliers.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing international vendors and suppliers is required.
  • Can-do personality; competitive and driven.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and proactively without supervision.
  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning, and implementing skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
