Job Summary 

The People Ops / HR Manager is a coach and trusted advisor to business leaders and client groups and builds and implements initiatives and overall process improvements to deliver results. Demonstrating functional and strategic expertise, the People Ops / HR Manager serves as a strategic business partner to deliver technical and strategic human resource advice across a wide range of areas such as performance management, issue resolution, programs, and policy. 

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Partner with internal business leaders to support the growth of the business by providing thought leadership and guidance in the areas of employee / labor relations, performance management, strategic workforce planning, development and coaching, and succession planning. 
  • Proactively manage employee relations, complaint resolution, investigations, and partners with appropriate legal team as necessary to protect the company and limit claims exposure. 
  • Drive leadership to understand, own and measure their DE&I accountability through coaching and consulting to the greater DE&I strategy.
  • Provide situation coaching and feedback to mid and senior level managers.
  • Advise leaders on sensitive performance-related situations and their business implications. 
  • Partner with compliance, legal, and People Ops/HR to stay up to date with all local, state, and federal regulations around staffing, specifically within the cannabis industry.  
  • Assist in implementation and management of internal processes/SOPs, programs, and short-term/long-term team strategies and initiatives. 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive HR experience that includes management responsibilities in HR organization with expertise in employee/labor relations, talent management and development, change management, systems integration, and vendor management 
  • Outstanding process and people management skills with proven ability to solve complex problems, manage cross-functional projects, and implement objectives-based solutions.  
  • Understanding of payroll administration (Federal and State laws, Local tax is a plus, prevailing wage).   
  • HRIS database management experience, able to make informed decisions and recommendations based on data and statistics. 
  • Must meet the age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agencies  

 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA (Master of Business Administration) preferred, and professional certifications such as PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP highly desire

  • 5+ years

  • Tolerance for Ambiguity - comfortable with uncertainty, unpredictability, conflicting directions, and multiple demands; able to operate effectively in an uncertain environment. 
  • Project Management - application of processes, methods, skills, knowledge, and experience to achieve specific project objectives on time within budget constraints
