Job Summary 
The industrial engineer will evaluate and improve manufacturing processes using current known best practices derived from Lean Management, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and other sources while teaching and driving change and operational maturity in the organization. 
Duties and Responsibilities  
  • Provide technical expertise as the site develops Ayr Operating System maturity.
  • Maintain current SOPs/Work instructions, throughput rates, and yield expectations.
  • Apply process standards to determine product costing.
  • Work with the Director, Engineering & Continuous Improvement, and other Industrial Engineers to ensure site SOPs follow current understood best practice.
  • Use various engineering methods to evaluate current practices and recommend improvements for review through the change management process.
  • Facilitate and drive site level Rapid Improvement Events
  • Identify and complete improvement projects aligned with Director of Operations quarterly and annual goals around Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
  • Design and update tooling/fixtures
  • Evaluate site level production flow and maintain site equipment layout.
  • Work with Tech Ops and Project Managers to provide “boots on the ground” support to development/construction projects affecting the site. (i.e., new product lines etc.)
  • Maintain a list of potential Capital Expenditures. Review with Director, Engineering & Continuous Improvement and Director of Operations to prioritize deployment within budget.
  • Execute Engineering Change Orders in accordance with Ayr’s change management process.
Qualifications 
  • Strong analytical and mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Visio, AutoCAD, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts including weekends when requested.
  • Strong work ethic with and attention to detail
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Willingness to learn and improve each operation.
Education  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering
Experience  
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing or operations environment

Working conditions 
  • The person in this position may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals, and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree.
  • Must be able to accommodate scheduling that may include varied shifts, weekend, and some holidays. On-Call availability outside of usual business hours is required.
  • Occasionally works in outside conditions that include exposure to inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
