(Snr.) Applications and Business Development Manager

Position Title:  (Snr) Applications and Business Development Manager

Department:Business Development

Entity:SSAU, JPN

Reports To:Sr. Director, Business Development & Applications

Location:Tokyo, Japan (Remote)

 

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with existing customers and generate, identify, and contact new leads.
  • Understand customer’s needs from RFP or other documentation and determine project scope, schedule, technical specifications, and risks.
  • Develop size models and conceptual drawings sets by working with other application engineers as needed.
  • Work with the procurement team to obtain quotes and prepare pricing for projects.
  • Prepare proposals including technical and commercial documentation in collaboration with other departments.
  • Negotiate technical and commercial contract terms with customers by working together with the commercial team.
  • Work closely with other business development and applications staff, engineering, and procurement to ensure complete and shared project understanding and priorities.
  • Conduct technical and sales presentations and provide clarifications to customers and other departments.

 

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in applications engineering, technical sales, or business development, with at least 5 years in the energy storage industry.
  • Exceptional technical aptitude including the ability to read and fully understand engineering schematics, technical advisory reports, and technology reviews.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory standards in Japan related to energy storage and grid-interactive inverters.
  • Global perspective and awareness, and direct experience working across diverse cultures in a multinational company would be beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) is required; a graduate degree is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills in both Japanese and English is required.
