Job Title: High School Summer Internship

Department: Human Resources

Reports to:  Chateau Briand

Location:  Texas

Job Summary:

All summer interns will work in departments that support solar module assembly.  All interns will be responsible for following the established procedures following all safety protocols and workplace policies to ensure profitable business operations. 

Interns will report into Human Resources but work closely with a Business Leader directly on their team.   

This is a part-time internship offering 20 hours per week of paid work.  All student internships will occur Monday-Friday between 8AM-5PM on a schedule mutually agreed upon by the manger and intern.   

The internship starts Monday, June 17, 2024 and ends Friday, July 26, 2024.

Departments offering internships: 

Human Resources (Recruiting, Training and HR): Interns will rotate through all parts of HR, including recruiting candidates, planning hiring events, onboarding employees, ensuring compliance with paperwork, entering data, presenting new hire orientation and more.   

PMC/Materials: Interns will work with the support production by ensuring all production stations are fully stocked, inventorying materials, and preparing materials for use. 

Environmental Health, Safety and Security: Interns will work with safety and security to evaluate the campus and work processes, implement suggestions, and ensure compliance to OSHA standards and more. Collaborate with different departments to problem solve. 

Production: Interns will work with production line leaders to collect data and directly contribute to the manufacturing process

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Working with leaders and team members on projects, data collection and process improvement 
  • Communicate, collaborate, and present a summer project that enriches the business. 
  • Read and interpret standard operating procedures, policies, blueprints and drawings. 
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Canadian Solar Solution Code of Business Conduct 
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures. 
  • Coordinate the timely delivery of raw materials, components, and supplies to support production schedules. 
  • Collaborate with procurement and production teams to ensure accurate material requirements and availability. 
  • Monitor inventory levels and perform regular stock checks to prevent shortages and excesses. 
  • Manage material storage and organization within the manufacturing facility, optimizing space utilization. 
  • Work closely with suppliers to track shipments, resolve discrepancies, and ensure on-time deliveries. 
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, such as material receiving reports and inventory records. 
  • Identify and address any issues or delays in material flow that could impact production timelines. 
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures for incoming materials to meet manufacturing standards. 
  • Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material handling processes. 
  • Assist in the implementation of safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be a current DISD or local high school student.
  • Must be graduating May 2024.
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform physical labor activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Office 365 
  • Communication skills 
  • Attention to quality and detail.
