Overview of the Role
A Cybersecurity Specialist’s responsibility includes using their skills to detect insecure features and malicious activities within our networks and infrastructure. They will implement customized application security assessments for client-based asset risk, corporate policy compliance as well as conduct vulnerability assessment. They should have an advanced understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth and common security elements.
Main duties include:
- Determine security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits
- Upgrade our network and infrastructure systems
- Implement and maintain security controls
- Identify and solve potential and actual security problems
- Assess the current situation, evaluating trends and anticipating security requirements
- Collect data on current security measures for risk analysis, and write systems status reports regularly
- Keep team members informed by preparing performance reports; communicating system status
- Maintain quality service by following organization standards
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Conduct testing to identify vulnerabilities, and collaborate with cybersecurity team to update defensive protocols when necessary
- Configure antivirus systems, firewalls, data centers, and software updates with a security-first mindset
- Grant credentials to authorized users, monitor access-related activities, and check for unregistered information changes
- Help lead employee training to prevent phishing and other forms of cyberattack
Succesful applicants should:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+) are preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or related field.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint security solutions, and SIEM systems.
- Experience with security assessment tools and techniques, including vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and security incident response.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and regulatory requirements, such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001, GDPR, and HIPAA.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
