Role Overview
Reporting to the IT Coordinator, the IT Technician is an integral part of the IT team supporting Gibraltar Mine’s 400 users. Responsibilities range from hands-on to remote desktop support, as well as application support and on-site physical installations of technology.
Core Responsibilities
Please note this position requires the successful incumbent to relocate to Williams Lake, BC, or the surrounding area. This is not a permanent remote working position.
- Provide customer-focused support with security as a primary concern at all times.
- Responding to help desk requests in a timely manner, recognize and escalate complex issues.
- Assist with implementing and enforcing IT Policy.
- Install, configure, and support site hardware and systems; Windows client workstations and laptops; printers, plotters and copiers.
- Configure and support IP phones and mobile devices.
- Installation, configuration and updating of client operating systems and software.
- Installation, troubleshooting and testing of ethernet and wireless networks.
- Maintain onsite IT stock and arrange disposal and recycling of used/failed hardware and supplies.
- Configure and maintain remote access and underlying security provisions.
- Maintain communications systems (VOIP systems, mobile phones).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Installing software updates and patches.
- Support Enterprise Asset Management Software.
- Provide technical support and training to users.
Education & Experience
- 2+ years’ experience in the IT Field.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems or equivalent certifications.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential; must have the ability to communicate effectively with users of varying degrees of computer knowledge.
- Must have the ability to work well under pressure and be able to work alone with minimal supervision.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications including Windows 10/11 and Office 365.
- Valid driver’s license.
