Job Description:

  • Provide support for a variety of CAS faculty recognition, engagement, and development programs and events administered by the Director of Faculty & Student Engagement, including but not limited to reserving space, placing catering and supplies orders, and submitting facilities requests.
  • Process applications for the Faculty Research Assistance Program and the Teaching Assistant Program (each semester), as well as competitive applications for Course Development Stipends, Summer Research Stipends, and travel awards.
  • Assist with new student orientation, commencement, convocation, and admissions events (open houses and showcases).
  • Support student events and programming, particularly for the honors programs, such as the honors symposium, undergraduate research and creativity conference, and other curricular and co-curricular events.
  • Design and update program materials and publications, including but not limited to event flyers, calendars, website content, newsletters, and materials for orientation and admissions events.
  • Assist with the development of social media content and help maintain CAS Honors Instagram and other social media pages.
  • Support the Director of Faculty & Student Engagement in the collection and promotion of faculty and student stories, accomplishments, and programs across the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Produce and review memos, reports, correspondence, and other related documents, and help in reviewing and editing documents.
  • Maintain faculty and student sites in Canvas and Teams as needed.
  • Provide office coverage, including answering telephone calls and greeting visitors.
  • Professionally and tactfully handle inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and visitors, and/or refer matters to appropriate offices.
  • Set agendas and take minutes for Honors Faculty Advisory Committee.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR any combination of three (3) to five (5) years of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and ability have been achieved to perform the duties of this role.
  • Experience in a university or college setting preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with Canva is preferred. Ability to learn and use University database systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be committed to providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume, deadline-oriented, and customer-focused environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Must have strong organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive situations with tact and sound judgment.
  • Standard hours of this position are 8:45 am to 4:45 pm, M-F. 
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends to staff events for the College or University such as Commencement and other events through the academic year.
