Career Exploration Graduate Fellow, 2024-2025

The Career Center supports students engaged in career exploration, development, and readiness in order to be globally competitive job candidates. The Career Center teaches students the skills and resources required to take their ambitions beyond graduation day into the working world. The Career Center promotes access and equity for all students, building bridges to close the opportunity gap.

 

The Career Exploration Graduate Fellow will be working closely with the Senior Assistant Director for Career Exploration, who works with our prospective and First Year student population and supervises the Career Ambassador Program.

 

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Interact with students, alumni, faculty, University partners, and other stakeholders to promote participation in programs and manage Center events.
  • Provide Career Center event and classroom presentation support when needed.
  • Gain expertise in the online career management platform, Handshake, to assist with data collection and projects.
  • Receive training and supervision to advise undergraduate students with career related questions in both individual and group settings.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of the Career Ambassador Program.
  • Partner with the Senior Assistant Director of Career Exploration to develop first year student career initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at Suffolk University.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using Canva, Photoshop, social media, and Google Suite are all preferred but not required.
  • Ability to take initiative when needed and be self-directed.
  • Willingness and interest in providing career advising to Suffolk students.
  • Ability to follow-up and follow-through on assigned tasks.
  • Responsive to correspondence, questions and requests.

 

Length of Position: September 2024 to May 2025

Time Commitment: Up to 15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling and hybrid environment
