Non Tenure Track Instructor-Strategy and International Business

Faculty Boston, Massachusetts

Description

Founded in 1906 by Gleason Archer, who provided legal education in the evening to individuals who might not otherwise have been afforded that opportunity, Suffolk University consistently seeks to advance its history as a school of access and excellence, highlighted by over 1/3of our undergraduate students who identify as first-generation. And 35% of our undergraduate and graduate students are from racially minoritized groups. Set in the heart of Boston, our students and faculty thrive among endless experiential learning and scholarship opportunities and partnerships. We seek to develop faculty whose teaching and scholarship center issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate their commitment to inclusive pedagogy.

The Strategy and International Business Department (SIB) at Sawyer Business School (SBS) is hiring a full-time non-tenure track Instructor with expertise in strategy and international business. Qualified candidates will have experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level and demonstrated industry experience and connections.

Regular teaching responsibilities include lecture in and coordination of the introductory undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of strategic management and international business.

The successful candidate should bring vast industry experience and connections and serve as the focal point for industry relations within the SIB-Department. Part of this task is spearheading the SIB-Department’s efforts to establish and maintain a client identification and management system with the goal to both provide the faculty with a steady supply of experiential learning projects for their teaching and offer the clients opportunities to work with different faculty to address a variety of issues.

Non-tenure track faculty are also expected to engage in service activities including advising undergraduate students majoring in Global Business and providing service to the department, college, and/or Suffolk University.

Suffolk University and our department are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive academic community. Familiarity with and experience using pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, socio-economic, and ability groups to reach their maximum potential is a valuable qualification.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are woven into Suffolk University’s very fabric.  We have been providing access and expanding opportunities for under-represented groups for more than a century. This mission is lived through our decisions at every level. U.S. News ranked Suffolk University among the top 100 universities in the country for social mobility.  Recently Suffolk was also listed 14th nationally in percentage of international students. Through student, faculty and staff recruitment and support, community engagement, curriculum development, and research, the University community works to advance equity for every student, every day.  Learn more about how we manifest the core values of our mission at Suffolk DEI.

A complete submission will include: cover letter (including teaching interests and research agenda); CV; statement of teaching philosophy; diversity statement; student course evaluations (if available); and contact information for three professional references. Finalists will be asked to provide educational transcripts and letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin immediately.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Initial interviews will be via Zoom followed by on-campus interviews.

Candidates should hold a Masters or a PhD in a relevant field by the commencement of the 2024/2025 academic year. Appointment will begin July 1, 2024 and teaching and service responsibilities will commence with the start of the 2024/25 academic year.
