Orientation & New Student Programs Operations Coordinator

Suffolk University is pleased to announce a career opportunity for Orientation & New Student Programs Operations Coordinator! This position supports orientation, new student, and family programming functions for the Division of Student Affairs. Oversees student office staff and all student payroll. Manages office external orientation/new student communication, programming logistics with vendors, and orientation registration process. Supports planning and execution of major departmental programs including, but not limited to, new student and family orientation, family weekend, new student programming, and various first-year experience initiatives.

Primary/Principal Responsibilities:

ONSP Programming

Provide program support (planning and execution) including, but not limited to mailings, registrations, confirmations, staff payroll, purchasing, inventory, and program assessment for:

-          New student & family orientation

-          Family weekend

-          Welcome programs

-          New student programs

-          Transfer programs

-          Other family and new student/first-year initiatives


Reconcile office budgets and provide accurate monthly revenue and cost reports.

Student Staff Supervision

Oversee hiring, training and supervision of student office staff. Includes overseeing hiring paperwork/payroll for graduate fellow, work study students, summer graduate interns, Ram Supporters and Orientation Leaders.

Campus Programming

Serve on various divisional and university-wide committees as requested.

Administrative Online Support

Manage orientation registration functions via online system and maintain edits/updates for department’s websites.

Staff Support

Provide administrative support for Director, Associate and Assistant Director of Orientation & New Student Programs and the Coordinator of Veterans Services as needed.


  • Administrative support or office experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office (Teams, Word, and Excel), Outlook, and experience working with databases/online.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be committed to providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a high volume, deadline-oriented customer-focused environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.     
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
