International Shipping Specialist (Senior)


SRCTec, LLC is currently seeking a Senior International Shipping Specialist. The selected candidate will assist with the day-to-day import and export shipments for SRC, Inc. and its subsidiaries
 
What You’ll Do
 
  • Complete documentation related to international shipments including Commercial and Proforma Invoices, Packing lists, Certificates of Origin, Shippers letter of Instruction, Carnet applications, Electronic Export Filings, Bill of Lading, Importer’s declaration, Manufacturing Affidavits, and other required documents based on shipment needs.
  • Handle difficult shipments and resolve complex challenges involving cargo movement (all modes) including but not limited to; expedited movement requests, unique routing, schedule deviations, customs issues.
  • Advise program managers, purchasing and contracts teams on INCOTERMS.
  • Work with approved carriers, freight forwarders and customs brokers.
  • Complete HTS and Schedule B classifications.
  • Audit Export/Import records on a routine basis.
  • Vet new forwarders and carriers as needed following company procedures.
  • Maintain current and develop new International shipping procedures and work instructions.
  • Support the development and execution of a manufacturing localization strategy
 
What You’ll Bring  
 
  • Bachelor’s degree with 6-10 years’ experience handling complex International shipments including International trade shows and demonstrations of controlled material.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, EAR and ITAR. Including the ability to read and interpret licenses and exceptions.
  • Knowledge of global shipping trends. (Trade wars, sanctions etc.)
  • In depth understanding of INCOTERMS. 
  • Experience working in the ACE portal including EEI filings and reporting. Experience with ACE administration preferred.
  • Experience with HTS and Schedule B classification.
  • Strong critical thinking, decision making and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders including customers, suppliers, Freight Forwarders and internal teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office.  
  • Ability to lift 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodations.  
 
Ways to Stand Out
 
  • Prefer HazMat Certification or at a minimum knowledge of HazMat requirements (DOT, IATA, IMDG)
  • Certified Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist or Certified Export Specialist.
  • Knowledge of Military standards for packaging, preservation and marking as well as standard practice for commercial packaging.
  • Understanding of FMS contracts and shipments.  
  • Experience with FedEx/UPS shipping software.

Total compensation for this role is market competitive. The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Syracuse, NY is estimated at $75,000 to $86,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location as well as other business and organizational needs.
