Summary:    
    
Director, Development will lead a team of individual contributors responsible for the management and execution of all aspects of renewable energy project development (Wind & Solar) from early-stage projects through the commencement of construction. Demonstrates a deep understanding of development, risk management/mitigation, spend management/mitigation, commercial negotiations, problem-solving, staff management, and team building.   A leader with an ability to autonomously negotiate commercial transactions and be responsible for a sub-set of annual budget delivery.     
    
Requirements:       
  • Responsible for managing and executing all elements of Renewable Energy development assets, both directly and through their team.
  • Responsible for delivery of sub-set of annual budgets.
  • Responsible for evaluating, preparing documentation for, and representing project-level decisions at executive committee meetings.
  • Represents the Company in community settings and in front of large landowner groups
  • Responsible for commercial negotiations in close coordination with their team members.
  • Manages land acquisition consultants and other site study contractors as necessary.
  • Leads environmental and permitting work streams for solar portfolio, a key contributor to environmental and permitting work streams (wind).
  • Participates in and directs transmission/interconnection processes.
  • Key contributor to financial model review and project value analysis. Takes responsibility to ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Identifies actionable opportunities for continuous process improvement and standardization.
  • Development of Utility Scale Renewable Energy Projects (Wind & Solar) across multiple geographies, Real Property Acquisition & Negotiations, Land Title, Mineral Title, business and accounting practices, geographic information systems, Power Purchase Agreements, Project Sale transactions, transmission and interconnection, electrical energy markets, environmental & permitting activities, renewable energy engineering, design & construction.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Key contributor in commercial (utility and C&I offtake and project purchase and sale-related) work streams.
  • Identifies business opportunities and helps form relationships with key stakeholders, utilities, and other potential clients within a region.
  • Develops and manages project and portfolio development budgets.
  • Stays current regarding changing regulatory requirements, and professional and industrial practices.
  • Understands contracts and possesses the ability to identify and negotiate key terms and conditions.

Qualifications:     
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Legal, Engineering, Environmental Science, or energy development-related field required.
  • 7+ years of experience in renewable energy development is required.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 5 to 15%.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license.
Anticipated base salary range:  $212,000 - $249,000    
    
The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
