Business Development Manager – PV & BESS

Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business development and account management activities focused on post-construction services including O&M agreements, Spare Parts, and remote operations offerings for utility-scale Photovoltaic (PV) Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) assets throughout the Americas. This role leverages an established network of relationships with asset owners, operators, IPPs, utilities, and developers to generate leads, secure long-term service contracts, expand existing accounts, and achieve revenue goals through a strong pipeline of O&M and optimization opportunities.
Requirements:
- Identifies, establishes and develops relationships with new and existing clients to generate new business opportunities.
- Develops solid and trusting relationships between clients and Company through gaining complete understanding of customer needs and tailoring high-value solutions to meet those needs.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with existing clients and partners to ensure customer satisfaction and identifies opportunities for upselling or cross-selling additional services.
- Identifies and vets potential opportunities and develops and promotes overall win strategy.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders in the successful development, organization, strategic positioning, preparation, technical analysis and issuance of winning proposals and presentations.
- Achieves annual sales goals for secured service revenue.
- Manages communications between clients and internal teams.
- Handles incoming Request for Proposals (RFPs) and facilitates “go/no-go” discussions.
- Creates and manages sales pipeline and campaigns using CRM software
- Plans and presents reports on account progress, goals and initiatives to share with team members, stakeholders, executive team, and possible use in future case studies or company training.
- Represents the Company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network, build relationships, and stay ahead of O&M trends (e.g., AI-driven analytics, BESS safety protocols, performance benchmarking).
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
- Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
- May lead or support contract negotiations.
- Presents account plan and result to division leads and executive board, as needed.
- Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
- Maintains leads, opportunities, and account plans in CRM.
- Presents account plans and results to division leads and executive board as needed.
Safety:
- Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.

- Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
- Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
- Adheres to and understands standard operating procedures.
- Receives job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing.
Qualifications:
- Highschool/ GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related discipline (or at least 4 years additional renewable energy industry and/or key account management experience) required
- 3+ years proven experience in business development, sales, or key account management focused on post-construction services (O&M, asset management, performance optimization) in the renewable energy sector, with significant emphasis on utility-scale solar PV and/or BESS assets.
- Proven network of relationships with key decision-makers managing operational utility-scale solar PV and BESS assets (e.g., owners, IPPs, operators), must demonstrate specific connections or past successes in O&M/service sales.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening for understanding, summarizing and presenting.
- Strong time management, prioritization, organization and multi-tasking ability, managing more than one client account at a time.
- Self-motivated and directed, driven with a focus on goal achievement, with proven results in delivering client solutions and meeting sales goals.
- Ability to analyze data and sales statistics and translate results into better solutions.
- Experience with CRM software.
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Functional competencies include building strategic partnerships, customer focus, communication, business acumen and innovation.
- Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of post-construction service contracts, performance guarantees, warranty administration, asset optimization strategies, and current market dynamics in operational utility-scale solar PV + BESS (e.g., predictive maintenance, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance for grid services).
- Possesses an established industry network with decision-makers
- Demonstrates success in securing and expanding O&M or service contracts for operational power generation or energy storage assets.
- Domestic travel 31-50% required.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
Anticipated base salary range: $125,000 - $136,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
