Title: Cancer Registrar I - Vassar Brothers Medical Center - Cancer Center, Poughkeepsie, NY - Full Time, 40 hours per week, 8 hour shifts 8:00am - 4:30pm. Remote work possible - Approved States Only: AZ,DE,FL,IL,IN,KS,MA,ME,MI,NC,NH,NH, PA,SC,TN,TX,VA,MS,MD.
Required- Must have:
- Must have ODS (Oncology Data Specialist Credential) within 1 year of employment.
- Associate’s level degree or high required.
Summary: Responsible for maintaining database of cancer information including the collection, abstraction and follow-up of all cancer cases diagnosed and/or treated Nuvance Health in accordance with national, state, and local requirements. Assures that all data is timely, accurate and complete utilizing cancer specific coding to correctly identify cases.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs all duties related to the cancer registry, including case-finding, abstracting, and follow-up in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
2. Uses multiple data sources to collect demographics, diagnosis, staging, treatment, and follow-up information.
3. Follows the currents coding, abstracting and staging guidelines as set forth by the federal, state and local requirements and by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (COC), National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), and/or the National Accreditation Programs for Rectal Centers (NAPRC).
4. Maintains an accurate and up to date suspense system that identifies all new cancer cases, that includes required data fields.
5. Performs annual follow-up for patients in the registry database that meets the requirements of federal, state and location requirements.
6. Attends and participates in professional conferences, seminars, or workshops to keep current on information and data related to the Cancer Registry and cancer treatment.
7. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

9. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
10. Performs other duties as required.
Salary Range:
$18.39 - $34.14 Hourly (Pay per years of experience)
