The Opportunity
This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the architecture of a new cloud platform. Join our team and use your significant experience as a DevOps engineer to continuously improve our physical and virtual infrastructure by leveraging IaC tools, automation, and your ability/drive to innovate.

You will report to Manager, Culture, who is committed to fostering a work environment that values open communication, transparency, and continuous learning. As part of our hybrid work setup, you will be required to work in the office three days a week, allowing for a balance between in-person collaboration and remote work flexibility to cater to individual preferences and needs.
There are no travel requirements for this position, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality work and contributing effectively to the team's success without the added stress of frequent travel. Your Role
  • Aggressively automate our infrastructure. Leave no manual process undisturbed.
  • Automate management of hardware and AOS Clusters at scale, from the moment a new block is racked or a cluster initialized until the moment it leaves service.
  • Document and present architecture and designs to Engineering leaders, peers, and cross-organizational stakeholders.
  • Design, implement, and manage monitoring/alerting for an operational customer base.
  • Design, implement, and manage our CI/CD process for automated builds and deployments. 
  • Design, implement, and manage automated provisioning for all IaaS infrastructure.
  • Work with developers to automate workflows on top of our IaaS infrastructure.
  • Participate in on-call rotations

 

What You Will Bring
  • 10+ years of experience with managing mission-critical systems with a hard uptime requirement (i.e., the company loses money if the service isn’t working)
  • Experience with Cloud Based IaaS systems (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Experience running on-premises compute platforms (AOS/VMWare/OpenStack)
  • Experience with container technology (Docker/K8s)
  • Experience configuring and managing policy-based access control systems (RBAC/ABAC/ReBAC/IAM/Cedar/OpenPolicy)
  • Experience with provisioning and config mgmt (Terraform/OpenTofu/CF/Salt/Ansible)
  • Experience working with on-premises monitoring, alerting, and APM systems
  • Experience with shell scripting (Bash/Bourne)
  • Experience scripting with a higher-level language (Python/JS/Ruby)
  • Basic networking skills (DHCP/DNS/ARP/Layer 2 vs three networks)

 

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 148,000 and USD $ 296,400 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
